Job Description:

WAREHOUSE SUPERVISOR JOB SUMMARY:


  • Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in all Warehouse activities including but not limited to management of incoming and outgoing shipments, engaging in Receiving activities, maintaining organization of Warehouse and offsite storage locations and preparing items for shipment by performing essential duties outlined in each job position description.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Supervision responsibilities for all Warehouse employees (Warehouse Leads, Material Handlers, Receiving Clerks, Spotters) including assisting with creation of standard work documents used to guide employee responsibilities, driving employing engagement through performance feedback and by providing training and development guidance, provide employee corrective action/work performance documentation as required.
  • Responsible for complying with customer service and quality standards as defined by both HFS customers and internal HFS policies and procedures.
  • Study shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
  • Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Determine space requirements and position of shipment in warehouses and trucks and lays out position of shipment.
  • Determine routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states.
  • Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded truck doors.
  • Inspect material handling equipment for defects and notify maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair. Maintain vehicle maintenance report.
  • Direct movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
  • Compile records of unfilled orders. Post weight and shipping charges. Prepare bills of lading.
  • Responsible for complying with all safety, health, and environmental regulations as prescribed by law and policies of the employer.
  • Follow and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (G.M.P.'s) and company policies at all times; must be familiar with G.M.P. requirements and the employee handbook.
  • Monitor key performance metrics, communicating results with team and driving actions to address metrics that do not meet minimum expected levels of performance.
  • Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
  • Maintain harmony among workers and resolves complaints.
  • Prepare composite reports from individual reports of subordinates.
  • Address errors and complaints related to activities and tasks of warehouse personnel to identify root cause of issue along with implementation of corresponding corrective action plans.

  • Responsible for meeting attendance standards of start and end time and work as scheduled.

  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Manage 3 subordinated supervisors and provide indirect oversight of 28 - 35 employees in Warehouse operations. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, performance and evaluation of this unit.

  • Physical and mental ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, employees or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to employees, management, public groups, and/or board of directors.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Stand eight hours per shift.
  • Repetitive reaching overhead, under and across throughout shift.
  • Push/pull items up to 2600 lbs. with assistance.
  • May crawl under equipment to reach work area.
  • May climb steps to and from work and break areas.
  • Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity for repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to distinguish colors.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in various units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to work in variable temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Repetitive bending, stooping and twisting throughout shift.
  • Ability to work in wet, humid areas.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and schedule form.
  • Ability to work well with others in stressful situations and meet deadlines as necessary.
  • May work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to fumes, airborne chemicals and vibration.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks.
  • May be required to work in high precarious places or in outside weather conditions.
  • Receptive to new ideas, concepts and procedures.
  • Receptive and responsive to constructive criticism.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:


  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid state issued driver's license.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good computer skills with SAP and Excel experience preferred.
  • Strong self confidence and leadership.
  • Basic mechanical skills.
  • Current Powered Industrial Truck license.
