Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY
The STRAP Team Member will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience, mentorship, and professional development while contributing to the operational efficiency and reliability of Idaho Forest Group’s facilities and equipment.  This position is designed for individuals enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program and are seeking hands-on experience and mentorship in maintenance.


STUDENT QUALIFICATIONS



  • Junior year of high school

  • 16 or 17 years old

  • Enrolled in a welding or industrial maintenance class with achievement of passing grade

  • Passing grades (C or higher) in all classes, no excessive absenteeism at school

  • Summer Schedule: Available to work up to 40 hours per week, including some Saturdays

  • Approval of parents to participate, appropriate signatures required

  • School assigned sponsor/representative

  • Transportation to/from work

  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check.


 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS


Ability to sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distance, and climb stairs.



  • Bend at waist – frequently

  • Twist upper body – frequently

  • Stoop - frequently

  • Repetitive use of hands – continually

  • Stand/walk – continually

  • Sit – occasional

  • Vision – near and far correctable; accurate depth perception

  • Hearing – correctable to within normal range for awareness of surrounding machinery, mobile equipment, emergencies


 


WORK ENVIRONMENT


Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, airborne particles (sawdust).
