Opportunity: VP/GM, PIVC



The PIVC (Peripheral IV Catheters) Platform is part of the Medical Delivery Solutions (MDS) Business Unit and is located in Salt Lake City, Utah. PIVC has an annual revenue of over $1 billion dollars.


The Worldwide Platform Leader will lead, coach, and engage a global, cross functional platform team to deliver customer focused solutions which will generate profitable growth for the business. He/she is accountable for setting the strategic direction for the platform and executing the strategy globally across functions and regional business teams to deliver growth over the ASR and beyond. This leader will also help direct the R&D budget and engage in research and/or clinical partnerships to drive new product launches and upgrades around the world. He/she is accountable for the global financial performance of the platform, both revenue and GP, as well as the delivery of innovations and team development. This role works directly and closely with each region to ensure delivery of budget and forecast revenue both in short and longer term.


This role will have direct reporting responsibility for marketing leaders (from JG3 to JG6) who manage the product portfolio and will also be responsible for the future vision and scope of the platform. This leader will also lead and direct the resources from major functions aligned to the business platform (even though direct reporting remains with the functions) as well as roles in regional business groups. This role will have a cross functional platform leadership team (direct and matrix) to lead and manage, and a group of extended platform members with representatives from product development, regulatory affairs, operations, quality, HR, finance, and other areas. The Platform Leader will work in close collaboration with the MDS Regions to coordinate the local execution of platform strategies.



Essential Job Functions:


Financial:

• WW P&L responsibility (revenue and gross profit)
• Uses strong business acumen to deliver annual Budget and develop longer term growth agenda tied to financial ASR/projections.
• Leads WW commercial success of the platform, on a monthly, yearly, and long-term basis, working closely with Marketing, R&D and Regional leaders including new product launches and uptake, in market product performance, product life cycle management and product service strategy
• Establishes the ASR (strategic planning) delivering on the financial performance of the business platform jointly with regional business leaders.
• Sets and manages the marketing budget for the platform.
• Contributes to achieving the overall business group financial goals.



Strategic:

• Sets WW Platform vision, objectives, and strategies, determining focus areas for growth (products, regions, practices) and determining investments to drive this growth.
• Embeds a strong customer centric focus into portfolio and resource decisions.
• Ensures alignment of Global Business Platform strategic objectives with the overall BU's strategic imperatives.
• Works closely with other Global business leaders and functional leaders to ensure optimized use of shared resources.
• Monitors and ensures proper communication of relevant market trends, clinical practices, regulations, and policy to ensure continuing strategic fit. Utilizes trends, interactions with KOLs around the world, and qualitative and quantitative market research to define business strategy.



Innovation:

• Helps direct R&D budget for this platform, including managing the sustaining engineering programs, driving the GPDS innovations and delivering key milestones/launches, and developing new innovations based on customer needs and opportunities worldwide.
• Leads/initiates potential acquisitions supporting the platform strategy
• Accountable for new product launches over the ASR period including R&D, Operations/start-up, supply chain, and marketing for the new product.
• Leads the cross-functional platform teams in reviewing and approving phase gate progression in the GPDS process.



Operational:

• Develops and manages the Platform team's worldwide manufacturing/supply chain needs in setting both short and long-term manufacturing strategy and capacity planning.
• Identifies and addresses opportunities to improve operational effectiveness and the cost competitiveness of platform products.
• Ensures platform products fully meet all regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Ensures highest level of quality for platform products.


Team Leadership:
• Leads team of cross-functional LT and regional marketers dedicated to platform.
• Prioritizes all work related to this platform across functions and regions.
• Develops the performance standards, norms, and operating mechanisms of the cross-functional platform leadership team to ensure team cohesion and effective communication.
• Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team.



Experience/Education:



• BS/BA in a related field/MBA preferred
• 15+ years of combined related commercial, marketing and P&L experience with business leadership
• Consistent track-record of leading, developing and engaging high performance, cross functional teams in a matrix business environment.
• Strong global strategic thinking and business acumen demonstrated in past global commercial leadership roles.
• High learning agility with aptitude for seeking out new and innovative solutions, identifying patterns in complex situations, exploring alternatives, and taking calculated risks.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills used to conceive, develop, and implement commercial strategies, convert these into tactical business plans and deliver results. Ability to work autonomously with minimal direction
• Strong leadership skills with an ability to set a vision, lead change and to mentor others. Speaks up when important information or questions must be raised and, takes action when issues must be addressed.
• Strong matrix management capabilities. Ability to develop strong relationships with key opinion leaders, customers, and potential or existing business partners.
• Strong leadership presence with ability to utilize organizational channels, experience and influencing skills to persuade others of the course of action, facilitate successful project implementation and effective implementation.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills for a wide variety of audiences, including senior management.
• Ability to work across all global regions with appreciation for cultural and regulatory distinctions at both an executive and tactical sales/marketing level.
• Global experience is needed and experience in emerging and developing markets is a plus.
• Healthcare marketing experience.
• Flexibility to travel globally up to 40% of the time.

• Willingness to relocate to Salt Lake City, Utah
