The Population Health Management (PHM) department at Mass General Brigham aims to deliver health and healthcare for all by translating the evolving needs of the healthcare landscape into innovative solutions to better serve individuals, communities, and organizations.

The PHM Financial Planning team is seeking an experienced Program Director to guide the design and management of our Value Based Contract analytics suite. Reporting to the Director of Value Based Care Performance, the Program Director will be responsible for driving data-driven decision-making to enhance patient outcomes, reduce costs, and improve overall healthcare delivery. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of value-based care models, advanced analytics skills, and the ability to oversee third-party analytics vendors while developing in-house analytics assets to support cost reduction and intervention evaluation.


Principle Duties:



  • Implementation Leadership:


    • In coordination with the Director of Value Based Care Performance, develop and execute the strategic vision for value-based care analytics, aligning with organizational goals and healthcare initiatives.

    • Lead and mentor a team of business analysts fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.



  • Vendor Management:


    • Oversee the implementation and ongoing management of third-party claims aggregation and population health analytics vendors.

    • Collaborate with external vendors to ensure effective integration of their solutions with internal systems and processes.

    • Monitor vendor performance, ensuring that deliverables meet quality standards and contractual obligations.



  • Data Analysis and Insights:


    • Oversee and collaborate with the internal digital and analytics teams the collection, analysis, and interpretation of healthcare data related to value-based care programs.

    • Provide leadership of data governance issues and resolution processes to ensure data accuracy and timeliness.

    • Develop and implement advanced analytical models to evaluate performance metrics, identify trends, and generate actionable insights.

    • Develop analytics assets to support the identification of cost reduction opportunities and to evaluate targeted interventions for effectiveness.



  • Program Evaluation:


    • Evaluate the effectiveness of value-based care initiatives and recommend strategies for optimization.

    • Develop metrics and methodologies to measure the impact of interventions and identify areas for improvement.

    • Work closely with clinical and operational teams to integrate data-driven approaches into care delivery and management practices.



  • Collaboration and Communication:


    • Partner with clinical, financial, and operational leaders to support value-based care strategies and goals.

    • Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to non-technical stakeholders, including senior management and affiliate partners.



  • Technology and Tools:


    • Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in healthcare analytics and value-based care.

    • Evaluate and implement analytics tools and technologies that enhance data processing and visualization capabilities.

    • Ensure effective utilization of third-party analytics tools and integration with internal systems.



  • Compliance and Quality:


    • Ensure analytics processes and practices comply with healthcare regulations and standards, including HIPAA and other relevant guidelines.

    • Promote data quality and integrity in all analytical efforts.






    Qualifications

    Qualifications:


    7+ years of hands-on experience in analytics and reporting in healthcare working with clinical (preferably Epic) and administrative data (e.g., payer claims data or billing data)


    Minimum a bachelor's degree with 4+ years of experience in economics, finance, mathematics, informatics or business administration strongly preferred.


    A master's degree in business/health administration, public health, or economics preferred.


    A combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirements.



    Skills and Abilities:



    Expertise in data analytics, statistical methods, and predictive modeling.


    Strong programming skills in SQL, willingness to learn other programming languages as necessary.


    Proficiency in Tableau preferred.


    In-depth knowledge of value-based care models, including Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) and bundled payment programs.


    Experience in overseeing third-party analytics vendors and managing external data solutions.


    Proven ability to develop analytics assets for cost reduction and intervention evaluation.


    Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.


    Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.
