Job Description:


Summary




Essential nursing leadership role within the organization with 24-hour accountability for nursing care delivered on a patient care unit. Provide administrative leadership and clinical expertise to ensure that comprehensive care and treatment is rendered to patient/resident population. Human and material resources are led to ensure that patient/resident needs are met in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Participate in quality improvement and program development activities. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team in the design, implementation and evaluation of programs within the unit.

Key Responsibilities



  • 24-hour accountability for the nursing care delivered on a patient care unit.

  • Nursing operations are coordinated daily to achieve patient centered service, quality, and cost objectives.

  • Nursing staffing is actively handled to ensure safe staffing levels and budgetary constraints are met.

  • Nursing services are delivered in accordance with professional standards of practice, the strategic plan for nursing and applicable organizational policies.

  • Continued education and research are cultivated to advance clinical practice.

  • Unit compliance is supervised and maintained to meet licensing and accrediting agency standards.

  • Culturally competent care is provided using evidence based practice interventions.

  • Patient documentation is assessed and monitored to ensure compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.

  • Performance Improvement opportunities are identified. Solutions are implemented and monitored to achieve established goals.

  • Marketing and outreach programs are actively participated in to increase the understanding of unit services.

  • Team members are hired, mentored, and continually developed to achieve stated goals for performance. Performance evaluations are completed accurately and timely in accordance with organization standards.

  • Business/Unit plan is aligned with PCC strategy and is updated at least annually to inspire change to meet market and organizational goals.

  • Budget is supervised to achieve financial objectives.

  • Practice is guided by and congruent with the American Nurses' Association's Nursing Administration: Scope and Standards of Practice and the American Organization of Nurse Executives' Nurse Executive Competencies.

  • Additional department, organization, or network activities are completed per established objectives.

Qualifications


Education/Degree




Required


  • Bachelor's degree

  • Minimum four years of diverse and well-rounded clinical experience required. Experience relevant to the clinical specialties of the unit preferred.

  • Master's Degree in Nursing highly preferred.

Licensure

  • Current license from Massachusetts Board of Registration as Registered Nurse.

  • Computer proficiency required. Microsoft office applications preferred with ability to learn new software.

  • National certification in a nursing specialty preferred.

  • Highly developed communications and interpersonal skills, working with diverse population.

  • Work independently, be self-directed and contribute as a member of a team.

  • Anticipates challenges and develops and implements strategies for addressing them.

  • High level of service delivery. Demonstrate initiative with ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and adapt to changing situations.

  • Attention to detail.
