Job Description:

This position reports directly to Peter Rocco, head research assistant on the "Buffering, Porosity, and Brain Health in Uganda" project. The research assistant position also reports to both Principal Investigators on the project (Dr. Ian Corbin and Dr. Cyrus Olsen III), Dr. Amar Dhand, and all supporting staff (HR, payroll, etc). The position will require between 5-15 hours per week depending on workflow.



Qualifications

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains all study regulatory documents.
All research administrative tasks.
Accounting/Payroll, Information Systems, Data Processing/Management, Research, Writing
All other duties, as assigned.
The research assistant will work directly under the head research assistant helping with all day-to-day needs. Clerical and administrative work will be the regular day-to-day responsibility of the RA (sending emails, creating meeting invites, etc). There will also be special projects throughout the duration of the summer to supplement the day-to-day work that can/may include assisting with accounting for the Templeton grant, indexing and editing Dr. Ian Corbin's book, updating the project's website, creating a weekly newsletter, and data input for the research results of the project.


QUALIFICATIONS:
BS or BA
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
1. Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
2. Good oral and written communication skills.
3. Knowledge of animal research protocols and IACUC guidelines.
4. Extensive experience working with mice and rats.
5. Knowledge of computer programs, databases, etc.
6. Able to work independently.
7. Ability to solve problems quickly and accurately.
8. Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and delegate a variety of tasks.
9. Careful attention to detail.
10. Ability to demonstrate professionalism.
