Job Summary
General Responsibilities
Assesses and evaluates the patient's condition, initiate emergency measures as necessary, and intervene appropriately in crisis situations
Provides independent professional care through the application of standing orders
Maintains personal and patients `safety with attention to blood borne pathogens, sterility, respirator use and fit testing, negative pressure exam room utilization, psychological distress, and contagious diseases.
Administers medications orally, by injection and intravenously, change dressings, and obtain laboratory specimens of potentially infectious material.
Analyzes data and record analysis and data into electronic medical record (EMR) Set up and assist providers with medical examinations, treatments and surgical procedures.
Educates patients about their diagnosis, contagion, self-care, follow-up, physical and psychological needs.
Directs and guides Medical Assistants (MA) in their tasks.
Oversees and insure the proper use, care and control of medical equipment and medications.
Assists nursing administration in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN)
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
3 years nursing experience with 1 or more years outpatient nursing preferred
Preferred
1 year as an RN in an outpatient or specialty setting
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Required
Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana Upon Date of Hire

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires sedentary work as well as extended durations of moving about the workplace. It requires the ability to move objects and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and the ability to discern between various objects and devices and to position patients. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
