Faculty Apprentice
School of Psychology & Marriage and Family Therapy
DEPT: Clinical Psychology
HOURS: 6-8 hours per week
JOB CLASS: Part-Time
EXEMPT STATUS: Non-Exempt (hourly)
A Faculty Apprentice (FA) will work closely with a designated faculty member to gain training in course development, preparation of class sessions, lecture development, monitoring student progress, advising students, and grading. A FA will be assigned to a course that is already developed by a regular faculty with a syllabus, lesson-plan and signature assignments. The goal is to train and prepare advanced students for future careers in academia. As part of training, the Faculty Apprentice is expected to take on substantial class teaching (co-teaching a significant portion of class lectures) and be responsible for class discussions, grading, and advising students. Other tasks may include completing assigned readings as part of professional development, creating lesson plans, or maintaining the course website. A FA will be meeting regularly with the designated faculty member to receive continued mentorship and feedback regarding their work.
Minimum requirements:
Doctoral student with a M.A. degree and have successfully completed their dissertation proposal
Have been a TA for at least three separate quarters
In good academic standing
Demonstrate excellent organization, oral and written communication skills

Complete a Faculty Apprentice Agreement (provided by the faculty member with whom you will be working).
Discuss with the faculty member your expectations for what you would most like to learn from the Faculty Apprentice experience.
Register for a zero-credit course (PG871 Psychology Teaching Practicum) in the Fall quarter of the academic year (Fall through Spring quarters) you will be a Faculty Apprentice.

Pay Scale:
Hourly rate the seminary expects to pay: $25.00 per hour, USD, subject to payroll taxes
