Job Description:

The Automation Project Manager will manage scope, budget, timeline, and customer relationships with the full support of our automation team. This role will provide technical leadership and collaborate with branch resources to execute projects. Project managers in our organization may manage a mix of customer accounts with repeat work, with the goal of developing that customer relationship. Other projects are "bid spec" or "design-build". The mix of work will be assigned based on the project manager's strengths, preferences, and experience. The Project Manager will manage their work through every phase, from opportunity, to estimate, to execution and closeout. The project manager is in a position of leadership and influence. The organization provides support to the project manager with engineering and tradesmen resources to staff projects, as well as business development resources.


Project Management:


  • Prepare and/or review design for compliance with engineering principals, applicable standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.

  • Lead and manage project plans, timelines, budgets, and resources while monitoring the process from concept through implementation.

  • Prepares project progress and completion reports.
    Ensure profitability goals are met on a monthly and annual basis.
    Technical Problem Solving

  • Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments.

  • Resolve engineering design and test problems.

  • Directs integration of technical activities and products.

  • Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.

Resource Management


  • Manage, plan, schedule, communicate, facilitate, and report project related tasks.

  • Break down work packages into manageable tasks. Assign and/or direct work of internal resources and sub-contractors (internal and external).

  • Lead teams, mentor talent, contribute to operational success.

Customer Management and Sales


  • Work closely with sales and service resources in a consultative and/or training environment.

  • Identify new sales opportunities.

  • Provide estimates for new opportunities.

  • Maintain and improve customer satisfaction.

Quality & Production


  • Evaluate objectives, anticipate obstacles, measure progress, and take appropriate corrective action to achieve objectives.

  • Monitor deliverables for completeness, quality of workmanship, and how well they meet customer expectations.

  • Monitor production of project deliverables and provide assistance in solving production issues that may occur. (This may include control panels, work cells, instrumentation, documentation, customer training)
