Overview

The Janitorial Supervisor – Floor Care is responsible for overseeing all aspects of floor care maintenance, including the supervision of floor technicians and machine operators. This role ensures that all floor surfaces, such as carpets, tiles, hardwood, and other materials, are properly cleaned, maintained, and restored. The supervisor will manage daily operations, ensure adherence to safety protocols, and maintain high-quality standards for floor care services.



Responsibilities

  • Supervision of Floor Care Team:

    • Lead, supervise, and train a team of floor technicians and machine operators.
    • Delegate tasks and provide clear instructions to ensure proper execution of floor care duties.
    • Schedule and coordinate shifts, ensuring adequate staffing levels for all floor care operations.
  • Floor Maintenance and Cleaning:

    • Oversee all floor care tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, buffing, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and polishing various types of flooring.
    • Ensure floor care tasks are completed efficiently, with attention to detail, and according to company standards.
    • Handle routine and deep-cleaning tasks for both hard floors and carpets.
  • Equipment Management:

    • Ensure proper use and maintenance of all floor care equipment, including scrubbers, buffers, extractors, and burnishers.
    • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and arrange for repairs or replacements when necessary.
    • Train staff on the correct operation and maintenance of all floor care machinery.
  • Quality Control and Inspections:

    • Conduct regular inspections of floor care work to ensure it meets quality standards.
    • Address any deficiencies or issues promptly to maintain a clean and safe environment.
    • Implement and enforce cleaning schedules for daily, weekly, and monthly floor maintenance.
  • Inventory and Supplies Management:

    • Monitor and manage inventory of floor care supplies, including chemicals, cleaning products, and equipment.
    • Order necessary supplies and ensure stock levels are maintained for uninterrupted operations.
  • Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure all floor care tasks are carried out in compliance with company safety protocols and industry standards.
    • Train staff on proper handling and use of chemicals and equipment, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations.
    • Enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
  • Reporting and Communication:

    • Maintain accurate records of floor care activities, equipment usage, and inventory levels.
    • Communicate regularly with management on the status of floor care operations, equipment needs, and any challenges or improvements needed.
    • Respond promptly to any floor care-related concerns from management or clients.


Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in floor care, including the operation of floor care machinery (scrubbers, buffers, extractors, etc.).
    • Supervisory experience in janitorial or floor care services preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
    • Knowledge of various floor types and proper maintenance techniques.
    • Ability to troubleshoot and repair floor care equipment.
    • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certifications:
    • Floor care certifications (preferred but not required).

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work on-site in a variety of conditions, including standing for long periods and handling heavy equipment.
  • Flexible schedule, with the possibility of working evenings, weekends, or holidays to meet operational needs.
