Job Description Summary The University of South Alabama’s Office of Grants and Contract Accounting is seeking to hire an Accountant I. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions

These are the job duties required of the position.

Essential Functions
  • Reconciles various general ledger accounts.
  • Makes deposits and submits invoices.
  • Reviews and approves direct pay requests, cost transfers, and personnel action forms.
  • Prepares and keys budget entries and journal vouchers.
  • Reconciles grants funds.
  • Sends out grant activation notices.
  • Monitors cash for the restricted funds.
  • Reconciles accounts receivable balances in various restricted funds.
  • Monitors and documents cost sharing requirements for grant funds.
  • Monitors expenditures of restricted funds to ensure they adhere to all University, State and Federal policies, are allowable under the terms of the agreements, and adhere to the budget.
  • Communicates with various University personnel regarding regulations of various funding agencies.
  • Answers questions and helps solve problems for various University personnel.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
  • Related duties as required.
