Job Summary:
SIT seeks a Senior Director of University Relations & Strategic Outreach to develop comprehensive and innovative strategies to enhance SIT's visibility and meet enrollment targets and the institution's long-term goals. The Senior Director will lead a dynamic externally-focused team of international education professionals to implement sales and outreach strategies, track their effectiveness, and to make adjustments as needed. The Senior Director is part of the University Relations departmental leadership team and reports to the Vice President for Innovation, Strategy & Partnerships.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruitment Strategy Development:
    • Develop and implement innovative, comprehensive, and effective strategies for deepening SIT
      engagement with other colleges, universities, and organizations to meet enrollment targets and the institution's long-term goals.
    • Analyze market trends and adjust strategies to align with institutional goals.
    • Support the SIT Senior Team on the design and delivery of new business lines and prepare sales and outreach strategies for specific portfolios of programs and new program rollouts.
    • Work with internal stakeholders to develop and refine messaging that draws on SIT's strengths and identity for new business lines.
    • Contribute as a member of the enrollment management team focused on reaching enrollment
      targets. Collaborate with colleagues on cross-platform recruitment opportunities for all SIT programs.
  • Outreach and Relationship Management:
    • Identify and target new potential partners and mission-aligned organizations for SIT undergraduate and graduate programs.
    • Design and execute outreach programs to engage key stakeholders and enhance SIT's visibility
    • Deepen relationships with existing partners, through frequent 'touch-points', preparing presentations and other modes of communication to advance mutual strategic objectives and to foster relationships with SIT.
    • Participate in recruitment activities, including fairs, expos, and exhibitions, as needed.
    • Represent SIT Study Abroad and SIT Graduate Institute at professional association meetings and
      conferences.
    • Lead site visits for study abroad advisors/directors and faculty.
    • Analyze current marketing and propose and implement innovative partnership agreements that support SIT and partners' mutual interests
  • Build relationships and collaborate with other SIT units, such as: Admissions, Provost's Office, Student Health, Safety & Wellbeing, Marketing & Communications, and other administrative units to provide current and compelling information and services to colleges and universities and prospective students
  • Personnel Management:
    • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate departmental staff as identified by the Vice President for Innovation, Strategy & Partnerships
    • Lead the University Relations team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
    • Set goals for each staff member supervisee and ensure team has the resources needed to achieve goals, execute outreach strategies, and increase lead generation.
  • Administrative Matters and Data Support:
    • Develop, monitor, manage and balance budgets for departmental units and track budget expenditures regularly.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert for CRM (Salesforce) database and support the university relations team
      with data management tools, pertaining to outreach and recruiting events, school and contact records,
      advisor tools, and data integrity. Translate users' needs and strategic initiatives to business process in
      consultation and collaboration with IT.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of outreach strategies, adjusting as needed, to achieve desired
      outcomes.
    • Manage affiliation agreements; develop and support university relation managers and associate directors
      to organize affiliation agreements; build strategy to use affiliation agreements as an innovative tool to
      deepen partnerships.
    • Provide regular updates and reports to senior leadership on outreach activities, partnerships, and trends
      observed.
    • Other duties as assigned and perform institutional service when prioritized by Vice President for Innovation, Strategy & Partnerships.


REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in related field
  • Ten or more years of professional experience in the field of international education, preferably in a campus-based study abroad office or for a program provider.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate institutional priorities into implementation of team goals
  • Proven excellence in relationship development, project management, enrollment growth
  • Ability to develop and assess strategic recruitment plans and demonstrated accomplishments using consultative sales approaches
  • Understanding of and enthusiasm for field-based, experiential study abroad
  • Significant management and supervisory experience, preferably of remote staff; ability to motivate staff and create an effective team environment
  • Professional presence and strong networking and public speaking skills
  • An understanding of current issues and the variety of administrative and financial structures in study abroad at US institutions
  • Significant contacts in international education at US colleges and universities
  • Excellent oral and written English
  • Strong skills in CRM and data analysis; ability to use technology as a management tool
  • Willingness and ability to travel , both domestically and internationally, while maintaining rigorous work schedule
  • Organized and detail-oriented; able to move between detail and big picture
