Description: Position Description

The Glasswash Technician will play a vital role in supporting the research efforts of the Genetics Department at Harvard Medical School by ensuring a clean and efficient supply of laboratory glassware. The successful candidate will manage daily glassware collection, washing, sterilization, and redistribution, contributing to the overall operation of the department's labs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect, clean, sterilize, and distribute glassware and lab coats on a daily basis.
  • Operate laboratory equipment including glassware washers, autoclaves, and drying ovens.
  • Maintain a clean and organized lab environment, including the glass wash area.
  • Keep detailed records for billing and service purposes.
  • Communicate effectively with lab personnel to ensure that individual lab needs are met.
  • Monitor glassware inventory and maintain stock levels as required.
  • Request service and repairs for equipment as needed.
  • Assist in organizing the lab space and performing light maintenance tasks when required.


Basic Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience working in a laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with glassware washers, autoclaves, and drying ovens.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills to work with a diverse group of lab personnel.

Please note this is a part-time, 21 hours (.6 FTE) per week position.
