Basic Job Functions:




The responsibilities of the Melt Shop Day Supervisor include, but are not limited to, assisting in the overall growth and development of the melt shop team while encouraging and building mutual trust and respect within the team. Additionally, this position will work with other departments to ensure cross-departmental consistency. This includes cultivating a culture of ownership, engagement, and teamwork to drive continuous improvement. The Melt Shop Day Supervisor will serve as a resource for the operating crews and will establish and maintain expectations, develop best practices for the area, and ensure consistency. In addition, this position will also participate in long term strategic planning for the department and division. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. The successful candidate in this position will lead one of the various areas of the Melt Shop (EAF, LMF/Degasser, Caster, or Scrap).Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.




Minimum Requirements:




Minimum two years of supervisory experience at a steel mill.


Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work: Developing specific goals and plans for prioritizing, organizing, and accomplishing individual work and/or the work of the team.


Business Acumen: General business knowledge and an understanding of how Nucor makes money.




Preferences:




Previous Operations or Maintenance experience at an Electric Arc Furnace experience
