About this role:

This manager will lead the Personal Loans and Retail Services Finance Analytics Team, consisting of 8 analytic consultants (5 US / 3 India), to partner with Marketing, Risk, and Product in developing new growth and pricing strategies.

The team is responsible for the financial modeling that support strategy recommendations to improve and optimize product offer constructs including pricing changes, model out new Retail Services partner deals, and present obtain required approvals for the proposed changes. The manager will ensure the team employs sound financial data and modeling methodologies to evaluate if new investments meet required shareholder returns.

The finance analytics team works closely with Credit Risk in optimizing approval criteria and line assignment and making recommendations for strategy changes. We analyze historical tests and model the financial impact of credit risk changes and work with risk management team to obtain credit approvals.

Together with Product, Marketing, and Risk the team supports both new and existing marketing campaign strategies where we modeling offers, help optimize of the marketing budget, and produce campaign financials required for senior leadership approvals.

The team is responsible for performance tracking and reporting of strategy results back to management. This includes analyzing and tracking historical tests, producing well thought through presentations and providing insightful recommendations.

The leader for the team is required to have in-depth technical knowledge of predictive modeling, deep understanding consumer lending drivers, ability to manage and improve technical optimization tools, and experience with programming languages such as Python and SAS. The candidate should be able to transform data into information that provides strategic insight to management.

The manager needs significant experience managing medium to large size analytic teams with a minimum of 6 years analytic experience. It is preferred that at least 4 of the 6 years of this experience is in the Finance Analytics space; additional knowledge in other departments including Product Management, Risk, or Marketing is a plus. To succeed in this role, the manager needs great communication skills and should come across as authority in terms of consumer lending industry experience, technical knowledge, and management of analytic staff.

In this role, you will:
  • Manage and develop a team of professionals with advanced understanding of consumer lending, finance, data and analytics
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for transformation of data into actionable information that drives business outcomes, strategies, and risk control development
  • Manage modeling, forecasting, reporting, and data distribution tools and processes requiring significant technical complexity within analytics
  • Make decisions and resolve issues regarding data aggregation, strategies, resources, and operations of risk analytics to meet business objectives
  • Recommend strategies and actions to be considered by management
  • Collaborate with and consult with team, peers, and multiple level managers; interact directly with external customers
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources
  • Mentor and guide talent development of direct reports and assist in hiring talent
Required Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of Risk Analytics experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 2+ years of leadership experience
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience using various financial concepts and methodologies
  • Advanced Excel skills including nested formulas, arrays, and VBA.
  • Knowledge of how to use Python code in financial modeling.
