My client builds and operates a diverse range of small satellite systems supporting space-based turnkey missions for several business applications. In addition to various science and exploration applications, this includes earth observation, communications, in-orbit demonstrations, and risk reduction opportunities.

Position Summary

The Technical Project Manager will lead the development, production, and delivery of small satellite missions. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, technical expertise in satellite systems and software, and a proven track record in managing complex aerospace projects from conception to completion. This role will require collaboration with cross-functional teams, customers, and vendors to ensure the successful delivery of small satellite missions that meet the company's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, from concept design, to delivery, to the launch service provider.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate project teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment across engineering, production, integration, software, and other relevant departments.
  • Monitor project progress and performance, implementing corrective actions as necessary to address issues and risks.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers.
  • Communicate project status, updates, and risks to senior management and stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software engineering teams to resolve technical challenges and optimize satellite design and performance.
  • Support regulatory agency application processes.
  • Identify, assess, and manage program risks, developing mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Support business development efforts with estimated project budgets, schedules, risk assessment, and resources predictions.
  • Secure necessary resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to support project execution.

Skills and Abilities
  • Strong project management skills, including experience with project management tools and methodologies.
  • Technical expertise in satellite systems, including design, integration, testing, and operations.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to satellite systems and space missions.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, software engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in satellite program management, with a focus on small satellite missions.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing aerospace projects from inception to completion.

Certifications
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is preferred.

Additional Requirements
  • Ability to travel as needed to support project activities, including meetings with customers, partners, and regulatory agencies.
  • Eligibility to work on USG projects and obtain any necessary security clearances.

U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, or protected person status under 22 CFR §120.15 and 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3) is required.
