Overview:

Our Estimators play a vital role in reviewing, administrating, drafting, and communicating complex residential and commercial mitigation and reconstruction job files across our offices in the Southeast region. This position involves creating accurate estimates, understanding client and industry requirements, managing the delivery process, and maintaining client expectations regarding timelines and quality. Estimators are expected to utilize Xactimate software and other tools to generate comprehensive estimates for restoration and reconstruction projects, ensure the full scope of work is documented, and negotiate all invoices with insurance carriers and adjusters. This position directly reports to the Director of Claims.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide hands-on management and problem-solving in the field when needed
  • Proven ability to multitask and is detail oriented
  • Ability to work within a team or independently
  • Proficient in assessing the extent of damage and help with site inspections
  • Create detailed and accurate estimates in Xactimate, including diagrams and line items, for submission to insurance companies and clients
  • Prepare estimates according to industry standards and specific client guidelines
  • Review, analyze, and validate field documentation, including scope, sketches, and photographs
  • Utilize project documentation tools such as XactAnalysis, Moisture Mapper, and MICA
  • Package estimates with necessary supporting documents and photographs to ensure transparency and completeness
  • Communicate progress and any necessary modifications of plans to all stakeholders
  • Negotiate all invoices, including those related to repairs, mitigation, abatement, and contents, with carriers and adjusters
  • Reach agreements on all repair estimates with carriers, adhering to cost guidelines or appropriately escalating the case
  • Maintain correspondence and timely responses to carriers and adjusters regarding claim negotiations
  • Ensure estimates and claims are kept in an approved or closed status and meet or exceed margin goals
  • Participate in internal quality assurance processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with company standards
  • Maintain a professional, positive attitude and appearance at all times
  • Willing and able to be accessible by phone or our phone service

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Prior experience in estimating within the restoration and/or construction industry
  • IICRC certifications (WRT, ASD, FRST, OR AMRT) preferred
  • Related experience in Construction, Restoration, and/or Insurance
  • Proficiency in Xactimate and XactAnalysis; experience with other estimating software is a plus
  • Experience in negotiating with insurance carriers and an understanding of insurance claim processes preferred
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Workspace
  • Comfortable with utilizing company and industry specific programs, software, and applications in accessing and uploading documents, forms, and reports
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret construction documents and terminology
  • Familiarity with moisture mapping, damage assessment, and abatement procedures
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to maintain a positive working relationship with all parties involved
  • Willingness to stay current with industry standards, attend training sessions, and continuously improve estimating skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on providing feedback during the estimating process
  • Strong problem-solving aptitude and ability to make informed decisions
  • Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently
  • Strong mathematical skills and understanding of procedures to ensure compliance with company guidelines

  • Excellent negotiation and conflict-resolution skills, particularly with insurance adjusters
