Patient Transport Manager

Position Summary:

The Patient Transport Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective delivery of patient transportation services within the hospital. This role includes managing client relations, ensuring patient and customer satisfaction, maintaining program quality standards, optimizing patient flow, and driving performance improvement. The Patient Transport Manager will plan, organize, and supervise the daily operations of the Patient Transportation department, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and adherence to established hospital policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Customer Service & Patient Safety: Cultivate positive relationships with patients, families, visitors, and hospital staff. Ensure safe, efficient, and comfortable transportation for all patients.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee the timely delivery of patients, specimens, blood products, equipment, and other patient-related items. Maximize staff productivity through effective task dispatching and personnel management.
  • Issue Resolution: Address and resolve complaints or issues related to Patient Transport Services. Participate in the identification and implementation of solutions to recurring challenges.
  • Leadership & Culture: Demonstrate and promote the values and management philosophy of Crothall Healthcare and the affiliated facility. Provide leadership that fosters a safe, positive, and productive work environment.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including Joint Commission, OSHA, and CDC standards. Maintain a clean, safe, and well-equipped work area.
  • Continuous Improvement: Conduct regular staff observations, daily rounds, and patient/family surveys to drive continuous improvement in service quality and patient satisfaction.
  • Financial Management: Assist the Unit Director in managing departmental budgets. Monitor expenses, control costs, and make recommendations for staffing adjustments as needed.
  • Staff Development: Evaluate staff performance, set meaningful goals, recognize achievements, and administer disciplinary actions when necessary. Manage scheduling, time-off requests, and maintain accurate records.
  • Additional Services Management: Oversee additional patient transport-related services, such as patient observation, lifting, courier services, valet, or shuttle operations, as applicable.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience: Bachelor's Degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience. CPR or BLS certification may be required.

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven management and leadership skills, with the ability to plan, organize, and supervise a diverse team.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and business acumen.
  • Proficient in data analysis to identify trends and improve operational efficiency.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and general computer literacy.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, and perform repetitive motions for prolonged periods.
  • Physical ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to perform tasks that require climbing, balancing, kneeling, or crouching as needed.
