Job Description:
The SAP PowerPlan Functional Analyst will be responsible for the configuration, implementation, maintenance, and upgrade of all PowerPlan modules. This role involves analyzing business requirements, developing functional design documents, and configuring the PowerPlan system to provide integrated solutions for the organization. The ideal candidate will collaborate with various business and IT teams to ensure the efficient delivery of technology solutions and provide ongoing system support.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Support & Consulting:
Define and standardize processes within PowerPlan, focusing on Finance and Tax areas.
Analyze complex end-to-end business processes across all PowerPlan modules.
Assess current and future business needs, leveraging PowerPlan's capabilities to meet those needs effectively.
Propose IT solutions to complex business problems using ERP capabilities, working across multiple business units.
Evaluate system customizations to advise on cost-efficient solutions, advocating for standard functionalities to reduce implementation costs and total cost of ownership (TCO).
Functional Analysis:
Automate and optimize PowerPlan system functions.
Map business requirements to SAP S/4HANA capabilities and configure the system accordingly.
Review design and technical specifications to ensure alignment with business solutions.
Perform configuration and quality assurance activities, including testing, to maintain system integrity.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
10+ years of experience in Information Technology.
8+ years as a Functional Analyst, specializing in PowerPlan systems.
Desired Experience and Skills:
Strong familiarity with PowerPlan modules, including CR, PM, Asset/ARO, and Depreciation.
Experience with project creation, estimating, approval processes, and charge classification.
Knowledge of PowerTax and Tax Repairs, as well as automated process controls to prevent data issues.
Understanding of lease accounting modules (if applicable).
Familiarity with month-end close processes and PowerPlan integration tools.
Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA, including SAP GUI, Hana, and the SAP settlement process.
Experience with large ERP projects, integrations with FP&A systems, and dashboarding tools for tracking metrics.
Functional Skills:
Accounting Concepts in Asset Management/Depreciation:
Expertise in mass property accounting, group depreciation, and asset retirement methods.
Strong understanding of ARO accounting and the differences between book and tax depreciation.
GAAP vs. FERC Accounting Concepts:
Knowledge of FERC accounts, particularly regarding renewable energy and equipment effective from 2025.
Expertise in AFUDC, CPI, capitalized interest, and managing GAAP vs. FERC capitalization schedules.
Experience with rate cases, depreciation studies, and asset documentation for regulatory purposes.
Non-Technical Skills:
Ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical teams to resolve system issues.
Skilled in communicating project outcomes and challenges to management teams, ensuring alignment and transparency.
