POSITION TITLE: Regional Training Specialist

ANTICIPATED START DATE: ASAP

ABOUT THE COMPANY: The Alabama Fire College's continuing commitment is to facilitate excellence in education, training, certification, and support services for the emergency response community.

SYNOPSIS: The Regional Training Specialist is a 75% to full-time, exempt position. This position is responsible for managing, coordinating and supporting all fire service youth and high school programs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of five years career fire service experience or ten years volunteer experience
  • Firefighter II and Fire and Emergency Services Instructor II
  • Commitment to education at various levels

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution
  • Three years experience with a career tech education or fire department youth programs
  • Familiarization with fire service youth programs and Alabama Department of Labor requirements as applicable
  • Experience with fire service grant funding programs

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Acts as the liaison with the Alabama high school and career tech centers.
  • Collaborate4 with the Training Specialist responsible for the Bridge and Recruit School Programs.
  • Guide education and youth development programs for the state.
  • Maintain and support the relationship between the Alabama Fire College and Alabama Department of Secondary Education and local school districts that teach curriculum approved by the Alabama Fire College.
  • Maintain and support relationships with the Fire Service Explorers and Fire Service Youth Cadet Programs.
  • Foster and encourage engagement among diverse student groups involvement in Alabama's Fire and Emergency Services.
  • Works with and advises staff on the establishment and maintenance of effective processes to achieve accomplishment of the program goals.
  • Demonstrate effective planning, organization and evaluation skills.
  • Deal with multiple projects, programs and initiatives simultaneously while maintaining a high degree of organization and effectiveness.
  • Demonstrate broad familiarization with Alabama high school education issues and ability to identify service delivery needs.
  • Demonstrate a familiarization with processes, policies and procedures of the Alabama Career Te4ch course of study and the Alabama Administrative Code sections pertaining to Alabama Firefighting programs.
  • Coordinate with other staff and/or contractors to develop effective delivery mechanisms for Alabama Fire College programs.
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Possess reasonable computer skills.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Frow the success and involvement of the Alabama Career Tech's Fire Science Program.
  • Identify specific outlets for the institution's programs, with a particular emphasis on youth programs.
  • Willingness to participate in overnight travel as needed.
  • Assist with systematic evaluation of the institution's programs.
  • Serve as liaison between the fire service, external agencies, the community public programs, appropriate state, regional and national agencies, and other entities in promoting and maintaining satisfactory relationships.
  • Attends county association meetings, conferences and events to disseminate information and assist with training or other needs.
  • Maintain, prepare and submit required records and/or reports for the institution.
  • Assist with planning for and conducting special events as required or assigned.
  • Disseminate relevant information between administration, state and national agencies and the Alabama Fire Service.
  • Participate and assist in the development, revision and implementation of planning programs in assigned functional areas.
  • Attend and effectively participate in staff meetings.
  • Participate in the Alabama Fire College's strategic planning process.
  • Actively and creatively participate in assigned committees and special projects.
  • Participates constructively in all planning and quality improvement activities.
  • Liaison between administration and external agencies and personnel.
  • Participates in professional development activities and represents the institution through involvement in community affairs and public service activities.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Executive Director or Section Chief, Regional Services.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of standing.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds.

FLSA & EMPLOYMENT STATUS: This position is a non-exempt, 75% to full-time benefitted position

SALARY: C3, D1-IB: Range of $55,109 to $89,336 based on experience and qualifications.
