Job Description:

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Construction to lead and manage all aspects of our construction operations. The Director of Construction will oversee project management, field operations, budgeting, and client relationships to ensure the successful delivery of projects. This role requires exceptional leadership, in-depth knowledge of construction practices, and a strong ability to drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Strategy: Provide overall leadership and direction for the construction division, including project management, field operations, safety, and quality control. Develop and implement strategies to achieve the company's goals and objectives.
  • Project Oversight: Oversee all construction projects from pre-construction through completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Review project plans, schedules, and budgets to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Team Management: Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of project managers, superintendents, estimators, and support staff. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages professional development and growth.
  • Financial Management: Develop and manage the construction division's budget, including forecasting, cost control, and profitability analysis. Monitor project financials, track performance metrics, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Client and Stakeholder Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders. Build and maintain strong relationships, ensuring client satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Business Development: Collaborate with the business development team to identify and pursue new business opportunities. Participate in client presentations, proposals, and contract negotiations to secure new projects.
  • Quality Assurance and Control: Implement and enforce quality control processes to ensure all work meets project specifications, industry standards, and client expectations. Conduct regular site visits and inspections to ensure compliance.
  • Safety Management: Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all projects and job sites. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and site-specific safety plans. Lead regular safety meetings, audits, and reviews.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve construction processes, procedures, and technologies. Implement best practices to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance project delivery.
  • Reporting and Communication: Provide regular updates to senior management on project status, financial performance, and operational issues. Prepare detailed reports and presentations as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in construction management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing multiple projects and teams.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale commercial, industrial, and/or residential construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project) and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or similar is preferred.
  • OSHA 30 certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.
