Job Description:
This System Administrator -Network Tools position is working with the Enterprise Telecommunications Infrastructure Services. The department provides world class IT Infrastructure service for the end users in support of the mission and national security at one of the major Department of Energy National Laboratories. Responsible for providing modern telecommunications systems for data, telephone, wireless LAN, RF Microwave, and encryption capabilities to Sandia with emphasis on securing and protecting the client's information, standardization., and reducing heterogeneity. These services are provided in an effective and proactive manner, using customer support, applications, and data necessary.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Deploy and maintain production Windows/Linux operating systems in accordance with established IT policies and guidelines for items such as security, networks, VoIP, and filesystems.
Strong Coordinate and perform installations and upgrades to layered software packages
Continually monitor and tune multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels
Work with Enterprise IT Configuration Management automation tools/approaches
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience - AA in IT Related field plus 4 years of IT experience, in lieu of degree 7 years of job-related experience is required.
Experience in Windows/Linux system administration
Must be a US Citizenship
Maintain a U.S. Department of Energy Q security clearance.
Required Skills:
Experience in Windows/Linux System Administration
Experience in Apache, Ngnix, haproxy
Working knowledge of authentication methodologies such as Kerberos, PAM, and LDAP
Working knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL, DNS, FTP, SSH, and other common Internet protocols
Knowledge of CLI, scripting (Bash, Python), and searching/parsing log files
Experience with solving practical problems and system analysis of the IT infrastructures
Experience in effectively prioritizing and executing tasks in a constantly changing environment
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and interdisciplinary team environment
Desired Skills:
Strong Telecom/networking background
User and group management
Process management
