Overview
The Mechanical Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all mechanical components and assemblies meet quality standards and specifications. This role involves conducting inspections, testing, and documenting quality control activities throughout the manufacturing process.
Responsibilities
Conduct inspections on various mechanical components and assemblies to ensure conformance to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
Perform dimensional and visual inspections using precision measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
Conduct functional testing to verify the performance of mechanical systems and components.
Document inspection results and findings in a clear and concise manner, including any non-conformances or defects.
Initiate corrective actions and follow up on non-conformances to ensure timely resolution.
Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to identify and implement process improvements for quality enhancement.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date inspection records and documentation.
Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures and standards.
Participate in root cause analysis investigations for quality issues.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Technical or vocational training in mechanical inspection or related field preferred.
Experience with precision measuring instruments and quality control techniques.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
Good manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to noise, chemicals, and temperature variations.
