Location:



The Senior Expert of Product Compliance North America is a remote position from the US with travel required to meet with key partners.



Your Role



The Senior Expert of Product Compliance North America will be responsible and for product compliance for substances and mixtures for the EMD Electronics business in United States and Canada adhering to all proper government standards.



Principle Accountabilities:



  • Provide expertise in the classification and labeling of substances and mixtures according to US Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) (29 CFR 1910.1200) and Canada's Hazardous Product Act based on physicochemical, toxicological, and ecotoxicological data.

  • Author safety data sheets per local requirements.

  • Track emerging regulations in the United States and Canada and communicating impact to the business.

  • Participate in New Product Development, ensuring products meet safety and regulatory obligations prior to commercialization.

  • Support technical associates with customer regulatory questions and surveys.

  • Assist in acquisition support and product risk reviews.

  • Maintain and update regulatory data (3rd party content) for all substances and evaluate impacts to business portfolios.

  • Support Global Label Management (SAP GLM), ensuring that regional product labeling meets GHS and Dangerous Good compliance obligations.

  • Act as the local Dangerous Goods Specialist, supporting product classification, dangerous good master data, DG compliance checks, transportation paperwork, and ensure regional compliance with DOT, IATA, IMDG, ADR, etc.

  • Review raw materials introductions as needed, working with site safety professionals to ensure proper handling and regulatory compliance.

  • Actively involved in management of change, ensuring regulatory/hazard updates are effectively communicated to business and supply chains.

  • Serve as the key user for SAP EHS for Product Safety, managing regulatory updates and enhancements to the program design.




Who You Are




Minimum Qualifications:



  • BS degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or equivalent scientific discipline



  • 5+ years of Product Safety Experience, with emphasis on Hazard Communication, Regulatory Compliance, Dangerous Goods classifications, or related experience

  • Working knowledge of SAP EHS

  • 10% domestic and international travel




Preferred Qualifications:



  • Certified Dangerous Goods Professional (CDGP ®)

  • High level knowledge of U.S. EPA Toxic Controls Substance Act requirements

  • Excellent communication and organization skills

  • Proficiency with learning technology and navigating information systems and tools

  • Ability to read and understand regulations and technical research

  • Excellent language skills in English required (spoken and written); additional languages would be an asset

  • Strong knowledge in global Product Safety regulations, e.g., US Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) (29 CFR 1910.1200) or UN GHS
