TITLE: Manager, R&D - Cell Therapy



REPORTS TO: Senior Manager Commercialization, R&D



LOCATION: Grand Island, NY

Position Summary:


At the forefront of the Life Science sector, we are committed to making a significant difference in the world. We are in partnership with world-leading pharmaceutical, biotech companies, and clinical centers, providing them with technologies and tools for cell therapy applications, particularly within CAR-T therapy. To support the growth of our Cell Therapy R&D team, we are seeking a technical R&D Manager to lead a team of scientists focused on product development, process optimization, application data development and commercialization of cell therapy products. You will work with department leadership and the business team to prioritize resources and implement strategic plans across the entire team. You will act as a mentor and role model for the team members to bring the best out of scientists. Together with our other R&D managers, you will be fostering a team-centric culture that embodies our core values of trust, open communication, and constructive feedback, where everyone is pulling together towards the same goal.



What will you do?



As a technical R&D Manager, you will manage several direct reports and join a management team that has the overall responsibility for all scientists and activities in the R&D department. Responsibilities include:




  • Mentor 6-10 scientists with designing experimental plans, leading study execution, analyzing experimental data, generating laboratory protocols, and writing technical reports.

  • Investigate, create, and incorporate new methods and technologies to improve efficiency of development workflows.

  • Balance resources to fulfill new product and custom product development objectives and fill pipeline with novel ideas for future development.

  • Maintain a high level of professional expertise through familiarity with existing technologies and products, review of current scientific literature, and attendance at scientific seminars and meetings.

  • Align the team's activities with department and business priorities.

  • Hire and retain a diverse, highly qualified staff and champion a successful team delivering innovative technologies.

  • Ensure that the team is trained and working in compliance with our Quality Management System and the appropriate regulations.

  • Drive development and implementation of effective working processes and continuously focus on removing barriers to execution.


REQUIREMENTS:




Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree with 8 plus years of experience, or Ph.D. degree with 4 plus years of experience in Cell Biology, Immunology, Biological Engineering, Biochemistry or related field.

  • Previous experience leading technical teams with a focus on people management, setting goals, providing positive and constructive feedback, and building positive relationships and successful teams.

  • Previous experience and proficiency in T cell culture, mammalian cell culture and cell culture media development

  • Proficiency in data analysis, research design, DOE, troubleshooting, and the evaluation of new technologies and procedures for manufacturing reagents, systems, or products

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to efficiently evaluate, prioritize, and adapt to changing project priorities

  • Familiarity with project management techniques including tracking of project progress, resources and issues

  • Position includes as much as 5-15% travel.

Compensations and Benefits:



The salary range estimated for this position based in New York is $103,100.00-$154,700.00. This position will also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
