SUMMARY
American Materials is searching for a mechanically inclined, safety-oriented Equipment Operator to regularly operate multiple pieces of equipment in our quarry environments. This position is responsible for the safe, responsible, and productive operation of various equipment to include haul trucks, loaders, water trucks, excavators, and more. Additional duties may include performing equipment checks, general labor-related duties and maintenance as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate heavy mining equipment, primarily haul trucks, but also loaders, excavators, water truck, skid steer, and other support equipment as needed.
Travel to other plant locations, including the Fieldale and Rich Patch quarries, when necessary
Monitor equipment operation and performance to ensure smooth functioning, identifying, and reporting any malfunctions or deficiencies promptly to supervisors and mechanics.
Conduct pre-operational inspections and assist with preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure safe optimal performance and minimize downtime.
Perform plant maintenance, clean up, and organization tasks as needed, including screen deck changes, parts lubrication, grounds cleaning, etc.
Follow established work schedules and production plans to meet daily, weekly, and monthly targets for aggregate production.
Comply with all safety and health regulations as established and enforced by Federal and State agencies, and the Company
Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other personnel to relay information, discuss production, and project requirements, and address any concerns.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
Minimum age 18 with valid driver's license.
Prior successful heavy equipment experience preferred.
Knowledge and recognition of safety practices and regulations pertaining to tasks performed.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills to help generate solutions pertaining to processing, maintenance, etc.
Physical ability and willingness to operate heavy equipment for extended periods of time, lift and maneuver heavy objects, and perform maintenance tasks.
Effective communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed, including weekends and holidays.
