Job Description:

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB AND CONTRIBUTION TO ORGANIZATION:

This position is responsible to provide purchasing support to the Leadership Team in all areas of operations including safety, production, housekeeping, and all other valid and approved purchases. They must have a strong understanding of procedures related to the operations of manufacturing. In-depth training may be required to prepare an operational buyer for their daily duties.

ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following job functions are not all-inclusive. The employee must perform other job-related tasks/responsibilities the supervisor requests. Job duties may change as required by the needs of the company.
  1. Assist in cost savings and cost increase avoidance activities while reporting any changes in material costs to the Lead/Strategic Buyer.
  2. Perform availability checks, incoming deliveries, and quality checks when necessary.
  3. Provide purchasing support to the Leadership Team in all areas of operations including safety, production, housekeeping, and all other valid and approved purchases.
  4. Utilize established procedures, work instructions, guidelines, and job aids for the effective processing of purchase requisitions for purchase.
  5. Fully support the organizational Quality Management Standards (AMS) and procedures related to the operations of manufacturing.
  6. Comply with all company policies and procedures as required.
  7. Operational Buyer may be subjected to perform other duties as required by the Leadership Team on an as needed basis.

Other Areas of Responsibility:
  1. Prepare materials reports for the Morning meetings.
  2. Acts as a Liaison between the company and the supplier for all correspondence required outside of the procurement department.
  3. Process all operational purchase requisitions such as Janitorial, Maintenance, R&D, etc.
  4. Transforms the purchasing requisition and clarify demand if needed - SAP.
  5. Selects among qualified suppliers according given rules and commodity strategy.
  6. Issues express RFQs within competences.
  7. Maintains supplier contacts in the daily business.
  8. Places purchase orders.
  9. Checks and follows up order acknowledgement.
  10. Follows up on-time delivery.
  11. Resolves invoice issues.
  12. Supports supplier rating.
  13. Supports the fulfillment of KPIs and reporting of the KPIs.
  14. Maintains and sets up proper Master Data.
  15. Resolves operational issues (quality, late delivery, missing documents, wrong quantity etc.) and informs strategic buyer considering escalation matrix.
  16. Assist in reporting, recording, and maintain CSP materials.
  17. Maintain the Lumber Audit log.
  18. Assist in inventory control.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  7. Possess at least two years' experience in purchasing or warehousing.
  8. Possess knowledge of products and parts related to a manufacturing environment.
  9. Ability to negotiate price, quality, quantity and delivery time frames for parts and products.
  10. Strong knowledge of product and parts.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires constant standing, use of hands and fingers, and eye-hand coordination. This position requires frequent reaching with hands and arms, and occasional sitting, walking, talking, hearing, and turning or bending at the waist. Incumbents must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Good close, distance, color, and peripheral vision as well as depth perception and the ability to see colors and adjust focus are required.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. This position works indoors in a manufacturing (warehouse) environment. Must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions including extreme heat, humidity, and cold. This position is occasionally exposed to oil, grease, or dirt, and to the risk of electrical shock. A loud noise level is typical for the work environment of this job.
