SUMMARY



Provides support to the customer United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Knowledge Management Support Services (KMSS). performing detailed Bio-Chemical technology-related literature, searching in various online databases and includes some electrical, mechanical or computer related searches as they relate to the chemical subject area.


Must be able to obtain and maintain the required customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment and property.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS



Must be able to obtain a customer clearance (Homeland Security) investigation for access to facilities, equipment and property.Additionally, requiring official US legal status and continuously residing in the United States for at least the last (2) year period.


Have an understanding of chemical structures.


Experience in electronic database searching and Bioinformatics.


Expertise in complex searching and scientific and technical literature using one or more major on-line commercial venders (Dialog, STN, Questel, Lexis/Nexis, EMBOSS/JEMNOSS).


Experience in searching for scientific and technical literature in an Electronic Information Center Support.


Expertise in searching for literature and resources on the Internet.


Experience in electronic database searching and Bioinformatics - preferred.



KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Analyzes search requests to determine requirements and strategy, develops and modifies complex search strategies to conduct searches of electronic resources.


Responds to requests requiring difficult and comprehensive searches for information through the use of primary and secondary sources, both current and retrospective, ephemeral materials, and/or information not readily available in published form.


Trains new Searcher employees on complexities of technology searching to meet USPTO customer needs for technology specific literature.


May assist with creation and implementation of marketing and outreach strategies to promote the information center and its available resources.



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE



Bachelor's degree and a minimum of six (6) years' relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience. Experience in electronic database searching and Bioinformatics. Expertise in complex searching and scientific and technical literature using one or more major on-line commercial venders (Dialog, STN, Questel, Lexis/Nexis, EMBOSS/JEMNOSS). Experience in searching for scientific and technical literature in an Electronic Information Center Support. Expertise in searching for literature and resources on the Internet.


Experience in electronic database searching and Bioinformatics - preferred.

The pay range for this role is 69K - 80K. This salary range is representative of the various ranges found within the professional sector across the United States, with the final offer amount dependent on location, skillset, and experience.
