Job Description:

Pipe Welder - Kingsport, TN

Must be able to pass Client welding certification for carbon, stainless, TIG, Stick- 2" x .625" (super coupon) GTAW / SMAW (GTAW root and hot only, SMAW fill and cap/2" schedule 10 stainless steel GTAW. SS is visual and CS is cut & bend at shop during test day
Previous pipe welding certification / 2 yrs min experience
Experience in an industrial chemical environment strongly preferred.
Set and adjust welding machine according to materials used.
Identify and resolve hazards associated with assignments.
Read blueprints, PID's or instructions from supervisors.
Check work along the way to ensure it's up to code and specifications.
Must be able to perform basic rigging practices, provide certification, pass client or company welding certification, as well as flagging practices based on OSHA 1926.1428.
Must be able to safely use hand and power tools and follow Company and site safety policies.
Lay out, fit, and weld fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms, such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, and building and bridge parts, according to blueprints and knowledge of welding and metallurgy.
Select equipment and perform layout, assembly and welding applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding.
May assemble parts by bolting and riveting. May repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torch, straightening press, and hand tools, and be designated Welder, Structural Repair (welding).

Additional Functions

Monitor and maintain building systems as assigned
Execute various minor construction projects as required
Willingness and ability to work various shifts and overtime on short notice, in order to meet businesses' needs.
Maintain equipment & clean around workstations.
Interface with supervisor &/or manager to give progress updates as required
Able to work outdoors in the elements
Work in tight spaces - physically able to climb up and down safely in proximity of manufacturing and process equipment.
Elevated work > 4' - fall protection required

Requirements:

Arrive at work on time, as scheduled, consistently, reliably, & complete each shift
Follow all safety rules and standards for the company and for the site
Understand and follow Instructions from the direct supervisor

Must be capable of operating a standard 1/2 ton pick-up for occasional delivery and pick-up of materials and personnel and hold a valid, unrestricted motor vehicle operator's license issued by the state of residence, and the manual dexterity necessary to operate a standard desktop computer keyboard.
