Job Description:

The Alzheimer Disease Research Center (ADRC) at Massachusetts General Hospital conducts leading-edge clinical and basic research in the area of Alzheimer disease and other dementias, with a focus on developing new tools to understand the clinical and biological changes that occur in these conditions. The program, an NIH-funded Center, supports participant evaluations and follow-up, as well as imaging, pathology, biomarker, data, outreach, and educational centers, as well as basic science laboratory programs.


The Research and Clinical Program Manager role encompasses strategic planning to accomplish research team goals to cure Alzheimer and related diseases, and administration of NIH and other funder priorities and requirements.



PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


General Program Management



  • Harmonize research programs with clinical programs including the Memory Disorders Unit to include recruiting and training research fellows, educational programs, and helping patients and participants navigate the MGH's programs.

  • Collaborate with program staff to implement various program-wide initiatives. Organize and document meetings and projects dedicated to the following:


    • Research portfolio brainstorming and development of synergies and integration of programs

    • Thematic programs

    • Philanthropic events

    • Some outreach events


  • Oversee and manage the ADRC research and meeting schedule, including coordinating with visiting speakers and guests. Responsibilities for all meeting types will include creating agendas, managing invitation and attendance, documenting decisions and creating and executing follow-up action plans

  • Manage the process for hiring and departures of staff, fellows, temps, students, and volunteers. Provide and supervise training for all incoming and existing investigators and research coordinators regarding protocol requirements, data collection and organization, and reporting requirements as necessary.

  • Represent the PI at internal and external meetings, including the national ADRC directors meetings, as requested.

  • Work closely with investigators in writing programmatic research programs, development plans, proposals and progress reports

  • May assist in grant writing and other funding opportunities.


Research Grant and Contract Management



  • Spearhead grant submissions in collaboration with ADRC Investigators for federal institutions such as the National Institute of Health (NIH), private foundations, etc.

  • Oversee preparation of communications between investigators and NIH, including progress reports/Just-In-Time requests

  • Facilitate interactions with the Institutional Review Board (IRB), including new submissions, continuing reviews, protocol deviations, etc.

  • Ensure studies are conducted in compliance with respective investigational plans and all applicable regulations, IRB requirements, and company policies and procedures. Take primary responsibility for interacting with the IRB and generating IRB documents.

  • Manage internal grant programs including Developmental awards.


Financial Management of Research Program



  • Provide strategic direction to Center's grants manager in developing and managing the program's financial profile and in making monthly and quarterly revisions as needed.

  • Partner with dedicated grants management team to ensure compliance with Partners Finance practices, including policy and procedure compliance, benefits and payroll changes.

  • Manage accounts payable including check requests, invoices and internal transfers.

  • Manage External advisors meeting, agreements & Payments.

  • Manage payments to subjects based on recruitment/completion of study metrics.

  • Other duties as assigned and appropriate to the level of the role






Qualifications

Required/preferred:



  • Excellent communication skills required, both written and verbal.

  • Must be able to work as part of a team and effectively communicate.

  • Ability to make independent effective decisions.

  • Strong organizational skills and experience managing a multi-faceted program essential.

  • Strong attention to detail in all aspects of work.

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word. RedCap experience a plus.

  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Excellent judgment and ability to interpret information and protocol requirements.

  • Knowledge of NIH grants and contracts processes.


EDUCATION:



BA/BS required; Certification/Degree in healthcare or health administration (MA/ MS/ MPH/ PA/ NP) preferred.
