Job Description Summary The University of South Alabama’s Continuing Medical Education department is seeking to hire a Senior Director, CME. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions

These are the job duties required of the position.

Essential Functions
  • Provides overall leadership and administrative guidance for the department of Continuing Medical Education (CME) to include development, direction, and coordination of accreditation standards, education and training, and budget development/forecasting.
  • Maintains and follows Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) accreditation standards to support CME’s mission statement and assures accreditation documentation is of high quality in compliance with all standards, guidelines, and policies, under direct supervision.
  • Works with the Associate Dean and CME Planning Committee to develop, implement, and maintain processes that support the standards and criteria of the ACCME and Joint Accreditation.
  • Responsible for the reporting of data and participation of attendees to the appropriate agencies and boards.
  • Develops and submits the annual report to PARS/JAPARS.
  • Works with stakeholders and event organizers in the application process to make sure standards are understood by organizers, paperwork is submitted in a timely manner, and any disclosures or conflicts of interest are mitigated in a timely manner prior to the events.
  • Works with the Associate Dean, leadership from the College of Medicine and USA Health to ensure we are meeting the current and future needs of faculty and staff needing continuing education.
  • Provides regular education and training for the CME Committee, coordinators, and support staff for events to ensure processes are met and requirements are understood.
  • Provides leadership in defining key functions for each service component, live events, enduring materials and RRS Programming.
  • Responsible for preparation of reports and evaluations of CME events and reviews quiz results for MOC.
  • Oversees maintenance of Calendar of Events, websites, and advertising events.
  • Tracks and reports participant hours for credit and appropriate reporting to licenses and boards, as needed as well as MOC credits and associated processes.
  • Oversees all planning, implementing, and reporting of all processes not mentioned for support of activities and accreditation process.
  • Provides guidance and training to each staff member to ensure understanding and proper execution of their duties, including cross-training staff and sustainability of the program.
  • Works closely with the Associate Dean and COM Business Office to develop a budget and long-term plan, following the rules and guidelines of the College and University’s use of money.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
  • Related duties as required.
