Job Description:

Location: Cambridge, MA

Salary: $145,000.00 USD Annually - $160,000.00 USD Annually

Description: As a Hardware Architect, you'll play a pivotal role in translating project and system requirements into well-defined hardware architectures. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, you'll design and complete instruments, including microprocessors, power components, and analog circuits. Your innovative problem-solving skills will drive project completion within schedule, and you'll actively engage with other technical contributors to develop reliable, cost-effective solutions for cutting-edge products.


This job will have the following responsibilities:

  • Translate project and system requirements into well-defined hardware architectures.

  • Design and complete instruments, incorporating microprocessors, power components, and analog circuits.

  • Assist in schematic capture and board layout.

  • Innovatively solve complex issues, ensuring project milestones are met.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.

  • Build, test, and debug prototypes, preparing documentation for manufacturing and support.

  • Research and enable innovative solutions for cutting-edge designs.

  • Independently perform complex electronic architectures and designs.

  • Provide insights and suggest design modifications based on simulation results.

  • Identify technical risks at the program/system level and execute mitigation strategies.

  • Manage tasks involving multiple engineers and effectively communicate status to project leadership and customers.

  • Actively mentor less experienced engineers, providing constructive feedback.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Proficiency in electronic design, microprocessors, or embedded computing.

  • Understanding of design principles and general computer architecture.

  • Ability to write detailed design specifications.

  • Strong programming and coding abilities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Solid mathematical background.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Effective time management, consistently meeting deadlines.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Skillful prioritization of tasks.

  • Thorough understanding of engineering theories and procedures.

  • Experience working with and knowledge of trade space for radiation-hardened parts.

  • Schematic capture and board layout experience.

  • Experience integrating and debugging embedded systems.

  • Ability to perform circuit simulation using HyperLynx and ANSYS.

  • Familiarity with Mentor Graphics PCB design flow (preferred).

  • Experience with Xilinx or Microchip FPGA/SOC design flow (desired).

  • Knowledge of design for harsh environments as embodied in common commercial and military standards (e.g., RTCA/DO-160, MIL-STD-810, etc.) highly desired.
