Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a DOT Compliance Coordinator. The DOT Compliance Coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance with FMCSA and state regulations by creating and maintaining compliant driver files, coordinating DOT testing, conducting Clearinghouse queries, and ensuring driver licenses and registrations are valid and current; coordinating driver training, managing various company databases/systems, and administering company driver safety programs. We’re seeking candidates with previous experience performing administrative assistant or clerical duties. High school graduate or GED equivalent.

Requirements for the Compliance Coordinator position include:

  • Thorough knowledge of standard DOT compliance concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality related to driver information.
  • Must be proficient with MS-Office applications, web-based systems, and performing research on the internet.
  • Must possess strong compliance, implementation, and auditing abilities.
  • Must be able to multi-task and have ability to prioritize competing tasks and demands and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Must be goal oriented, self-managing with time and project consideration.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communications with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of employees within the organization.

Physical requirements must be met for the DOT Compliance Coordinator job, including the ability sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Able to lift, carry and maneuver items up to 20 pounds in weight. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
