Job Description:

Job Title: Continuous Improvement Process Engineer - Special Projects

Department: Production

Reporting to: Operations Manager

General Overview:

The Continuous Improvement Process Engineer will be responsible to design, detail and implement continuous improvement and new projects/equipment into production using lean manufacturing principles. The employee in this position will partner with the design, maintenance, and production departments working on various projects, using in-depth knowledge of the latest design trends and engineering software to lead the way. This position will be based out of the Catalyst Acoustics Group North Aurora Manufacturing Campus in North Aurora, IL.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform the functions to establish and maintain all facets of product labor standards, interact at the product design level with all departments to insure production feasibility.
  • Project management of special projects from estimation through implementation.
  • Communicate, coordinate, and implement project changes to maintain effective internal and external relationships.
  • Serve as liaison between team members and functional area management.
  • Evaluate existing manufacturing processes, recommend and implement cost reduction programs for continuous improvements.
  • Determine line balancing for human resource efficiency improvement and cost reduction.
  • Calculate production staffing requirements for assigned manufacturing lines.
  • Provide justifications for the purchase of equipment or changes in production methods.
  • Provide facility and space plans for all office and production equipment, including all functional utility requirements developing and implementing cost-saving measures.
  • Apply the necessary ergonomic principles to office and production workstation design.
  • Analyze and create standards, processes, and work instructions for direct and indirect labor.
  • Ensuring manufacturing processes, equipment, and products comply with safety standards and legal requirements.
  • Documentation retention for the full scope of each project.

Core Competencies:

  • Strong Project Management & Customer Service skills.
  • Visual ERP software knowledge (preferred however not required, if not Visual, experience with using an ERP system)
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Autodesk 2D/Fusion 360/3D Drafting
  • Value stream mapping and optimization
  • Exhibits Proactive nature in day-to-day activities.
  • High level of pride in one’s work
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and customer focus approach.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent technical aptitude, analytical, detail-oriented background to learn a diverse product line.
  • Bi-Lingual English & Spanish a plus but not required.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mechanical or industrial is preferred.
  • 3+ years project management experience and/or PMP certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction and manufacturing industry.
  • Lean manufacturing certification green belt level or above is preferred.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification a plus.

Work Environment:

This position will have a base working schedule of Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm. Overtime and extended daily hours may be required depending on project demand. The person working in this position will move back and forth from an office and production floor environments daily. Always maintain company safety standards regarding required personnel protective equipment usage.
