Evaluating suppliers
Purchasing managers evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, and delivery speed. They may also visit suppliers' plants and distribution centers to learn about their products and services.
Negotiating contracts
Purchasing managers negotiate contracts with suppliers on behalf of their organization. They may also work out agreements with suppliers on when products will be delivered.
Managing inventory
Purchasing managers analyze demand patterns and forecast future needs to avoid shortages or excesses. They also maintain records of items bought, costs, deliveries, product performance, and inventories.
Developing procurement policies
Purchasing managers develop and implement instructions, policies, and procedures for purchasing and contract management.
Collaborating with other departments
Purchasing managers collaborate with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for equipment, materials, and products.
Resolving grievances
Purchasing managers resolve grievances with vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree
7 years of experience in materials or purchasing
Equivalent education and experience may be considered
Experience negotiating contracts in a cost competitive environment
Experience with Domestic and foreign supply chains
Experience in the electronics industry is strongly preferred
