The Sr. Carrier Manager I is an individual contributor role that works strategically with 1-3 Transportation Management customers on their Truckload networks to deliver high-performing solutions on cost and service metrics. Also, the Carrier Manager I manages the end-to-end execution of transportation procurement events, from strategy to post-bid carrier performance management. Managing and building strong relationships with core carriers is key to this process. This position will work Onsite at our office in Greensboro, North Carolina and interviews will be conducted Onsite as well.
What the Candidate Will Do
Carrier Relationship Management
Develop and enhance relationships with core carriers
Participate and lead in the development of truckload capacity solutions for Uber Freight customers
Coordinate virtual and onsite meetings for carriers
Identify and develop new carrier prospects for customer truckload networks
Carrier Performance Management
Conduct monthly or quarterly KPI and business reviews with core carriers
Distribute and monitor monthly or quarterly carrier scorecards
Engage in root cause and corrective action with carriers as needed to meet KPIs
Analytic/Operations Support
Analyze truckload network KPIs, carrier KPIs, and RFP bid data
Design, validate, and present reports and insights to internal partners and customers around truckload network and carrier KPIs
Provide escalation support to customer and internal operations teams
Procurement Support
Manager end-to-end strategy and execution of procurement events (RFPs and mini-bids)
Re-source capacity outside of the regular bid cycle as needed
Market Insights
Stay on top of current truckload market conditions and developments, and act as a resource on these issues for Uber Freight internal partners and customers
Travel
Minimal travel may be required (5%)
Basic Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Minimum of 3 years strategically managing Carrier performance or Truckload networks
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field
4 years or more analyzing and managing Truckload transportation, either at a shipper, carrier or 3PL
Knowledge of truckload industry, major carriers, cost drivers, and best practices
Exemplary analytical skills, comfortable analyzing data, and presenting findings and recommendations effectively in both verbal and written communications
Knowledge of market trends and economic forecasts to educate customer and be on leading edge of capacity needs
Expertise in transportation procurement and use of technology to execute bid events
