Job Description:

The Senior Program Manager - Suicide Prevention in Health Systems is responsible for strategic program development, project implementation, and administration of the Healthcare Initiatives Team (HCI) at the national Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC). The goal of this position is to develop innovative trainings and courses, tailored resources, practical tools and research-informed publications that enhance clinical practice among providers and impact organizational change among health systems (including the Zero Suicide framework).  This position will convene staff, contractors, and subject matter experts to identify the needs of the healthcare field and will share information about effective clinical programs, policies, and practices that improve suicide prevention outcomes.  Under the supervision of the SPRC Senior Leadership Team, this position will also coordinate the work of the HCI Team with other SPRC Teams and Initiatives to build capacity, develop the workforce, and strengthen infrastructure for effective suicide prevention.  For more information about SPRC please visit https://sprc.org/

Duties


  • Directs program administration, overseeing all HCI Team budgets, interpreting grant statement of work policies and procedures, and supervision of HCI Team members.

  • Monitors and manages project scopes and timelines, program evaluations, and develops long-range plans for the HCI Team.

  • Serves on various external committees and represents SPRC at relevant meetings and conferences, and interfaces regularly with public and client groups, including federal agencies and national workgroups.

  • Ensures the evaluation of programs and trainings developed by the HCI Team.

  • Directs and plans for needs assessment(s) of health and behavioral health providers and systems.

  • Develops HCI Team goals and objectives to support annual work plans.

  • Oversees project management related to the development of trainings and publications designed to reach health and behavioral health providers and systems.

  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Required Education and Experience:  Master's degree, AND:


  • 36 months of program administration or related experience. 

Equivalency/Substitution: will accept 72 months of related experience in lieu of the Master's degree for a total of 108 months of related experience.

Skills:


  • Able to communicate professionally and effectively, and build rapport quickly with colleagues, service recipients, providers and health system leadership

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple overlapping projects and deadlines

  • Experienced in reviewing and interpreting health and behavioral health system policies, as well as State and Federal regulations

  • Able to effectively contribute to evaluation plans for training and publication projects and programs and produce comprehensive reports

  • Able to assess health and behavioral health workforce development needs and identify appropriate resources and trainings

  • Able to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively

  • Strong initiative to solve problems both independently and with involvement from teammates and leadership

  • Highly collaborative and able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives

  • Grant and contract management skills, including budget monitoring

Certifications:


  • Valid Driver's License

Departmental Preferences: 


  • Doctorate in public health, public policy, administration, or behavioral health and 36 months of experience managing/ leading suicide prevention efforts in a health or behavioral health system, including experience implementing the Zero Suicide framework.
