About this role:

We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced Principal Engineer to join our Azure Cloud Compute engineering team. This individual will primarily focus on the design, testing, documentation, and strategic planning of Azure Compute Services across a large-scale organization. This role requires a keen understanding of container hosting and other runtime compute within an Azure cloud environment. This role requires an unwavering focus to ensure that the Azure Compute offerings needs of the business are met while adhering to highest standards of security and operational sustainability across multiple business units.

In this role, you will:
  • Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups
  • Develop and oversee Azure Compute Product Team Infrastructure as Code (IaC) codebase to adhere to approved functional and non-functional requirements and that they align with the company's overall strategy and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
  • Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions
  • Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization
  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership
  • Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
  • Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor through individual technical leadership
Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
  • 5+ years of experience with Cloud technologies. Azure preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience with building, deploying and secure cloud platforms.
  • Extensive experience in a similar role, demonstrating a deep understanding of cloud runtime compute infrastructure such as Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS), serverless compute, and other container management or Virtual Machine (VM) solutions.
  • Proven experience with Azure cloud technologies, including designing, implementing, and testing cloud Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM template, etc.)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make informed decisions.
  • Proficiency in documenting complex technical procedures and policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance the needs of the business with technical requirements and constraints.
