The Batch Plant Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the batch plant, ensuring that production is efficient and compliant with American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards. This role is vital to ensuring consistent production quality and adherence to safety protocols. As a key member of the team, the Batch Plant Supervisor will maintain the mixer and equipment, troubleshoot any issues, and uphold high standards of cleanliness and maintenance to support Locke Solutions' exceptional customer service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Batch Plant Operations:

Maintain batch plant operations to ensure timely delivery of batching materials.Monitor gauges, dials, and equipment operation to ensure conformance to processing specifications.Operate and maintain batching systems, including resetting systems and converting the mixer to automatic operation.Inspect and operate the loader when needed to stock aggregates for batching.Ensure compliance with ASTM standards and proper additive percentages for special batching items.

Maintenance & Housekeeping:

Perform lockout/tagout procedures before conducting housekeeping or maintenance tasks.Diagnose and repair basic batch plant equipment, coordinate with other personnel for more complex repairs.Oversee daily housekeeping and maintenance of aggregate hopper surfaces, compressors, and cement loading areas.Supervise and ensure the team properly cleans and oils the inside mixer, while making sure all equipment, including conveyor systems and material dispensers, is in working order.Perform routine inspections of the hopper area, conveyor belts, and other machinery.

Quality Control:

Produce consistent batches of concrete that meet ASTM standards, mix designs, and automatic batching procedures.Maintain waste batches of concrete to 1% or less.Ensure proper documentation of batching processes and print and submit batching reports to the Operations Coordinator.

Team Collaboration:

Report any major maintenance or plant-related issues to the Plant Manager or Supervisor.Cross-train in different areas of the plant to maintain operational flexibility and ensure smooth workflows.

Safety Compliance:

Ensure that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and OSHA regulations are understood and followed.Complete lockout/tagout logs and ensure compliance with safety protocols for equipment maintenance and plant operations.

KEY RESULTS:
Consistent Production: Minimal waste concrete (less than 5%) at the end of each shift through careful monitoring and management.Material Control: Accurate control of variance in raw materials and admixtures.Documentation: Timely delivery of all required documentation for QC and the posting process.Cross-Training: Successfully cross-trained in different areas of the plant, ensuring backup operators are trained and operational
