Howes is looking to add a highly motivated Sales & Customer Service Representative to our team. This position is based at our office in North Kingstown, RI and requires regular travel to tradeshows and customer sites.

Job Summary:

The Sales & Customer Service Representative will provide professional and timely support to customers. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with customer inquiries, providing product information, and targeting, developing, and maintaining relationships with new and existing accounts.

Duties/Responsibilities:

- Responds promptly to basic customer inquiries regarding products via phone and email.

- Provides exceptional customer service to ensure customer satisfaction.

- Consults with potential customers to understand their needs; identifies and suggests products to meet those needs.

- Establishes, develops and maintains positive business and customer relationships.

- Manages distributor accounts:
  • Assists distributors in maximizing sales opportunities through product knowledge, promotional support, and strategic advice.
  • Implements strategic plans to manage and grow accounts.
  • Trains and educates distributors on product benefits and technical issues.
  • Ensures customers understand pre-season and promotional pricing programs.
  • Travels to assigned accounts on a regular basis.

- Maintains knowledge of market, competition, and best practices and trends in sales techniques and strategies.

- Represents the company at trade shows including setup and breakdown of booth and evaluating the effectiveness of the show.

- Communicates and coordinates sales effort with team members and other departments.

- Attends sales training and conferences as needed.

- Assists with e-commerce and online customer service.

Required Skills/Abilities:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Excellent sales and customer service skills with proven negotiation skills.

- Ability to develop and cultivate long-term customer relationships.

- Highly organized and solution-oriented.

- Thorough understanding of company's products and/or services, and those of immediate competitors in applicable markets.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Detail-oriented and able to prioritize.

- Ability to multitask and complete work while traveling.

- Proficient with CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Education and Experience:

- High school diploma required, bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

- Proven experience in customer service and sales roles required.

Physical Requirements:

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

- Must be able to travel to tradeshows and customer sites; up to 25% of time may be spent traveling.
