Job Summary: The In-Direct Procurement Manager is responsible for the procurement of goods and services that support production, distribution, and retail operations, including retail packaging, signage, promotional giveaways, shipping materials and other production-related collateral. This role includes managing inventory, forecasting demand and ensuring Just-In-Time (JIT) replenishment to maintain optimal stock levels.
Procurement Strategy:
Develop and implement procurement strategies for indirect materials.
Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure cost-effective deals.
Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery capabilities.
Inventory Management:
Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate supply without overstocking.
Utilize inventory management systems to track and forecast inventory needs.
Implement JIT replenishment strategies to minimize inventory costs and waste.
Supplier Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
Conduct regular supplier performance evaluations and audits.
Resolve any supply issues or discrepancies in a timely manner.
Demand Forecasting:
Analyze sales and usage data to forecast demand for indirect materials.
Collaborate with production and sales teams to align procurement plans with business needs.
Adjust forecasts and procurement plans based on market trends and business changes.
Cost Control:
Monitor and control procurement budgets to achieve cost savings.
Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements.
Track and report on procurement KPIs to senior management.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Identify and mitigate risks associated with the procurement of indirect materials.
Develop contingency plans for supply chain disruptions.
Process Improvement:
Continuously seek ways to improve procurement processes and efficiencies.
Implement best practices in procurement and inventory management.
Utilize technology and automation to streamline procurement activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
5+ years of experience in procurement, with a focus on indirect materials.
Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
Proficient in inventory management systems and demand forecasting tools.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Knowledge of procurement best practices and JIT principles.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
