Job Description:

The Mackinac Center seeks an experienced and energetic Director of Events to oversee all aspects of our event planning and execution. This role is key to advancing the Mackinac Center's mission by creating and managing high-quality events that enhance our visibility and effectiveness. We host approximately 50 events per year, from a signature gala to intimate supporter gatherings to out-of-state summits. This is an exciting opportunity to build on this robust portfolio and expand the scope and impact of Mackinac Center events.

The Director of Events will report to the Director of Advancement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the planning, implementation and management of all Mackinac Center events.
  • Align each event with the Center's mission, values and strategic goals, in collaboration with staff and leadership.
  • Execute events with the highest standards of excellence.
  • Use outstanding organizational skills to create a seamless experience for event guests and presenting staff.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize attendance, engagement, visibility and impact.
  • Effectively manage vendors and contractors, as needed.
  • Use resources efficiently and deliver event outcomes on schedule.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Commitment to the principles of limited government, free markets and individual liberty.
  • Proven experience in event planning and execution, with a strong record of successful events. Experience planning gala events a plus.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in vendor management.
  • Track record of delivering outcomes on time and within budget.

  • Team player with a "can-do" attitude ready to work with staff and stakeholders to achieve organizational goals.
