Role description:

Arcadis seeks a Water Treatment Plant Operations Consultant to provide operations and field assistance to water and wastewater treatment facilities in the Pennsylvania/Delaware region. The operations consultant will use their expertise and technical knowledge to support ongoing facility projects, assist with the development of standard operating procedures, provide hands-on support and training to facility staff for operations and maintenance activities common at treatment facilities, and support operational transitions, phasing and shutdowns due to construction activities.

Role accountabilities:


  • Assist in the evaluation, planning and design of projects for water / wastewater treatment and conveyance (pipelines, treatment, and pumping facilities).
  • Support ongoing facility projects, working directly with a variety of engineering disciplines, office/project staff, manufacturer's representatives, and subcontractors throughout the project life cycle
  • Support services during construction, including construction observation, support operational transitions, phasing and shutdowns due to construction activities
  • Assist with the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for different operations and functions within the treatment facilities, including chemical feed facilities
  • Provide hands-on support and training to facility staff for operations and maintenance activities common at treatment facilities
  • Preparation of Operation and Maintenance (O&M) reports or documents
  • Preparation of presentations and participation in client meetings
  • Successfully complete assigned work within budget and deadlines as communicated by more senior staff.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience in working with field operation and maintenance staff
  • Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and work ethic
  • Excellent verbal and technical writing skills
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated and team-oriented, with the ability to work successfully both independently and within a team
  • Experience in preparing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Experience in preparing Operation and Maintenance (O&M) reports.
  • Flexible attitude towards assignments, with the initiative and ability to take on challenges
  • Dependability and an eagerness to take ownership of tasks
  • Knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, and practices related to water/wastewater
  • BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering or equivalent experience in operations and maintenance

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Minimum 20 years of relevant experience
  • Exhibit ownership of delegated tasks, including responsibility for coordination and delivery of on-schedule and on-budget tasks
  • Experience with water, wastewater facility operation, maintenance, design and construction activities

We offer nine paid holidays and 15-20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $80,000- $90,000. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
