  • Paid Internship: $20/hour

  • Twelve-week program: May 19 – August 8, 2025

  • Full-time opportunity: 8am – 5pm CT or as determined by departmental needs

Lands’ End Project Engineering Internships are designed with future leaders in mind and serves as a pipeline for top talent. Participants in our program receive one-on-one mentorship while collaborating with members of our Facilities, Operations (Supply Chain), Engineering and Global Sourcing teams to complete initiatives that are key to our business success. You will learn to research and identify opportunities, perform business analysis, develop strategies, and present your findings to senior leadership. You will quickly come to appreciate the complexities of growing a global, multi-channel retailer.


Project Engineering Internship projects may vary and are based on current business needs at the time of the internship. Specific details will be provided prior to your start date, but all projects are technical and require a sound understanding of engineering principles.


As a Project Engineering Intern, you will be tasked to work within a dedicated and talented engineering team. This will involve designing, testing, installing, and maintaining production line manufacturing equipment in a demanding environment. You will be required to take ownership of various aspects of a project including preliminary system design, risk management, project budgeting, scheduling, quality control, and project close-out. You must be able to work within multi-disciplined teams to ensure that the end system is both cost effective and optimal to meet the needs of the business. You will polish your time management and communication skills to increase your effectiveness as an engineer.


As an Intern responsibility could include:



  • Facility project management related to systems or controls engineering

  • Facility planning and project management role related to buildings, infrastructure and industrial systems

  • Exposure to building drawings, blueprints and specifications. Digitizing of engineering documents and physical building drawing utilizing plotter/scanner for scanning historic prints and adobe pro and autocad for editing documents. Configuring of documents securely on SharePoint.

  • Involvement in pre-construction, engineering & the bidding process.

  • Direct involvement in project management and scheduling. Opportunity to gain knowledge of engineering/construction practices.

  • Independent study: Control panel documentation

  • Utilization of computerized maintenance management software CMMS (Net Facilities).

  • Document and valuate current process flows and logic for industrial manufacturing equipment.

  • Involved in helping specify functional requirements of a program to meet process requirements of the equipment.

  • Evaluate various technologies and vendor proposals suitability for equipment designs.

  • Perform basic circuit troubleshooting and logic sequencing debug of industrial control systems.

  • Assist with direct communications to our vendors and suppliers to help overcome production challenges.


Successful candidates will have the following skills, knowledge, and abilities:



  • Minimum Educational Requirement: Successful completion of 3rd year level coursework or above by May 2025 with a Major in Construction Technology Management or Civil Engineering programs and GPA 3.0 or above.

  • Analytical and critical thinking skills to evaluate business problems and apply knowledge to identify appropriate solutions.

  • Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle various responsibilities while meeting deadlines.

  • Motivated initiative-taker

  • Project management skills

  • Eager to learn, flexible and accountable.

  • Knowledge of computers to operative effectively with PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, and Microsoft Outlook

  •  Ability to use various measurement tools such as a tape measure and multimeter. Exposure to reading blueprints for building layouts and control panels would be a plus.

  •  Exposure to Computer-Aided Design Software (AutoCAD, Revit, Etc.), Scheduling Software (MS Project) and any Estimating Software (Sage Timberline, PlanSwift, etc.) is a plus.
