Job Description:

Project Engineer

Overall Responsibility:

The Project Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and compliance of build-to-print electro-mechanical assemblies, acting as the primary technical liaison between the company and its manufacturing partners.

This role involves maintaining and updating engineering documentation, supporting regulatory compliance and customer requirement adherence, and assisting in technically demanding project & quoting activities. This position collaborates with suppliers to resolve technical issues, explore manufacturing solutions, and support component sourcing.

Occasional travel may be required to provide on-site technical support and facilitate effective communication between the company, suppliers, and customers.

Key Areas of Responsibility and Essential Position Functions:

Product Design and Documentation:

  • Review and interpret engineering drawings and specifications for electro-mechanical assemblies; Quote stage through product EOL (End-of-Life).
  • Ensure documentation accuracy between supplier, ECM & customer; Adherence to customer specifications & compliance to regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
  • Maintain and update engineering documents and data. Reviews and approves ECOs (Engineering Change Orders), NPI's (New product Introductions) CA's (Corrective Actions) and other related process flows.

Technical Support and Coordination:

  • Acts as a technical liaison between the company and manufacturing partners.
  • Support manufacturing partners with technical questions and providing necessary information.
  • Assist in the resolution of technical issues and the development of solutions for customers.
  • Identifies alternate/equivalent materials to navigate obsolescence and/or in support of cost savings opportunities.

Supplier Collaboration and Management:
  • Collaborate with suppliers to explore and implement suitable manufacturing solutions.
  • Facilitate communication/technical discussions between ECM & Manufacturing Partners.
  • Support Internal team on supplier approval activities and management/maintenance of AVL (Approved Vendors List).

Project Support Activities:
  • Report, update activities and create timelines for various projects on assigned actions.
  • Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Assists with failure analysis, root cause determination & corrective actions implementation regarding product failures or other quality related concerns.
  • Supports technically demanding quoting or project activities as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, or related.
  • 3-5 years of experience in electro-mechanical manufacturing or related field.
  • Strong understanding of power cords, cable assemblies, wire harness and electrical/electronic components.
  • Experience with regulatory standards and quality control processes.
  • Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics, wire diagrams and prints.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.

  • Experience with PCBA and related product manufacturing and material requirements.
