The Graphics Production Associate is responsible for supporting our custom graphic design team, including preparing custom graphics files for printing, producing the approved artwork on printers and plotters (print and cut), and preparing and shipping the printed graphics for installation. The role requires the ability to operate large format printers and plotters. It will suit someone with a passion for detail and accuracy and for supporting internal and external customers.
Key Job Responsibilities
Graphics Production - 70%
Collaborate with the graphics design team to prepare custom graphics files for printing and cutting
Accurately produce printed and cut graphics and optimize the chances for a successful install by properly handling the product in the shop including weeding, masking, packaging, providing backup pieces for difficult elements, sorting the pieces into a logical order, and clearly documenting how the produced elements align with the approved proofs.
Collaborate with sales and operations to optimize the production schedule, working to accommodate the work as best fits the business need
Provide visibility to the anticipated complete and ship dates of each job using preferred tracking software
Respond quickly to last-minute requests for redos, maximizing the opportunity for ops to drive profitable job margins
Make use of features in the software packages that promote efficiency and speed of production
Equipment and Supplies Maintenance - 20%
Perform regular recommended maintenance on printers and plotters to ensure graphics equipment is properly maintained and supplied to maximize the availability of printers and plotters
Order all graphics materials and supplies based on job needs and schedule requirements
Manage film inventory, checking in/out film on a per-job basis to track consumption and conduct monthly inventory checks
Teamwork - 5%
Support graphics design when needed on high-volume days
Collaborate with the graphics design team to produce test colors, samples, and submittals.
Product Development - 5%
Keep up to date on graphics capability and recommend hardware and software to keep Solar Art relevant in the graphics space
Job Requirements
Previous experience operating large format printers and plotters including
Large Format UV / Latex / Solvent printers (e.g. Mimaki, Roland, Epson, HP, etc.)
Large format Plotter (e.g. Summa, Graphtec, etc.)
Large Format Laminating Machine
Understanding of how designs translate to glass
Familiarity with design software including Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop and RIP Software
Working knowledge of the window film and graphics industry is preferred
Basic working knowledge of Adobe programs, especially Illustrator and Photoshop.
Working knowledge of plotting and RIP software (Fine Cut, Cutting Master, and Onyx Thrive)
