At minimum, the person hired must have: (1) a Ph.D. in Sociology from an accredited institution of higher education conferred by the date of initial hire, (2) a strong record of scholarly productivity and active research agenda in sociology, (3) a strong record of developing and teaching Sociology courses, and (4) evidence of fostering a scholarly environment for all through teaching, mentoring, research, outreach, and / or service. We prefer candidates with demonstrated experience teaching Sociological Theory at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, along with a proven track record as an intersectional scholar who examines interlocking forms of oppression, such as race, racism, ethnicity, gender, social class, and sexuality, within their areas of research. We also prefer experience in interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary, and cross-campus collaborations and a proven track-record of effective teaching and mentoring across various modalities at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Additionally, a history of securing extramural funding to support research activities is highly desirable. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
