Position Overview



The Plant Supervisor supervises all primary plant operations at the assigned asphalt facility.




Roles and Responsibilities





(Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in Tilcon New York's and CRH safety policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to all applicable regulations including Safety and Health Administration and (OSHA) Occupational Safety and Health Administration affecting asphalt plant production, safety, environmental, state, federal, and company policies; ensure observance and compliance of such regulations.
  • Supports product quality and customer service by maintaining strong line of communication with plant manager, Quality Control and supporting lines of business (LOB).
  • Directs or coordinates personnel and activities utilizing knowledge of department functions, company policies, regulations, and plant standards and practices.
  • Effective management of employee performance through (FLT) Front Line Leadership Training that includes but not limited to coaching, feedback (written and verbal), rewards, and discipline when necessary.
  • Reviews and analyzes reports, records, directives, regulations, and confers with plant manager to obtain data for required planning of activities and solving department problems.
  • Gives work direction, resolves problems, prepares work schedules, and sets deadlines.
  • Coordinates with other departments to insure optimal efficiency and economy.
  • Manage personnel in preparing work areas for upcoming maintenance activities and kitting of supplies necessary for maintenance.
  • Completes required reports and records for management.
  • Evaluates procedures and practices for alternate methods and improvements.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Maintains professional demeanor in dealing with critical/confidential information; restricts discussion/knowledge of activity to a "need to know" basis.
  • Regular and timely attendance is required.
  • Flexible to work day or night shifts.
  • Additional duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications



To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.


Education/Experience

Required
  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) with 4 years of quarry/asphalt related experience or training in supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience in accounting or business specific software.


Preferred
  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or engineering preferred.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities.


Work Requirements
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and public always.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends when required.


Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • Working knowledge of English and Math, office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with and work well with other personnel.
  • Ability to deal effectively with questions or problems, seeking assistance when needed.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature.
  • Make appropriate job decisions following standard policies and past precedents.




Physical Requirements



While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. The employee is required to remain stationary and move for periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust to focus. The employee will have to drive a vehicle. Employees in this job may continuously use fine motor skills, repetitive motions, move left and right. They may frequently move and reach, lower oneself to a low position or rise to a higher position. This position requires an employee to frequently move up to 25lbs and occasionally move up to 50lbs.




Work Environment



The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Employees are exposed to noise, moving equipment, and working with others. Frequently, employees are exposed to hot weather, cold weather, and wet weather. Occasionally, employees may be exposed to high heat.

Compensation & Company Benefits:

  • Competitive Base Salary is $75,000 to $85,000 with bonus
