Job Description:

Purchasing Analyst

The Purchasing Analyst's primary function will be to assist Garson & Shaw's Purchasing Department with its inventory management and quality control. Secondary duties will include following up with the sales staff on potential leads, credit/balance tracking with various suppliers, analyzing data to inform strategic planning, and building supplier profiles in our CRM system. Other duties may include travel to suppliers to perform product quality checks, doing market research to identify new sources of secondhand material, and/or various administrative/clerical duties.

Duties

1) Act as the primary point of entry for orders and provide accurate details into Garson & Shaw's Inventory Management System

2) Perform office related quality control duties, such as ensuring suppliers have prepared the product(s) correctly for loading and inspecting shipping documents for discrepancies

3) Organize and monitor credit tracking and vendor balances

4) Research and develop new supply-side clients

5) Provide support to Sales Department with follow-up regarding available inventory and collecting load details they may require, etc.

6) Responsible for maintaining client files (including, but not limited to, price history, collecting recent photos of product, ensuring contacts are updated, etc.)

7) Create reports using data analytics to inform purchasing decisions, identify trends in the market, and shape buying strategy

8) Represent the company when bidding for new supply

9) Handle various administrative/clerical duties, schedule meetings, etc. as directed by Director of Supply Chain Management, Purchasing Managers, Director of Sales, and CEO.

Required Skills

1) 4-year degree from an accredited institution

2) High level of organization and time management

3) Comfortable doing large amounts of data entry

4) Must be an effective communicator

5) Hard-working, "can do" attitude

6) Strong attention to detail

7) Ability to think analytically and critically; does not require SOPs to guide workday

8) Must be willing to travel up to 10-20%

9) Proficiency with MS Office products

10) Ability to self-supervise, problem solve, and manage competing priorities

11) Must be a self-starter and highly motivated to perform on a daily basis

Preferred Skills

1) Two to three years' experience in a business environment

2) Experience using Sugar CRM

3) Education/experience with statistics, reporting, and data analytics
