Job Description:

Position Title: Senior Lease Records Analyst

Job Overview: Our client is seeking a Senior Lease Records Analyst who will be responsible for the comprehensive review, setup, and ongoing maintenance of oil and gas leases and land contracts. This role involves working closely with acquisitions, drilling programs, land calendars, and incoming title information to ensure the accuracy and integrity of lease records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lease and Agreement Management: Analyze, set up, and maintain oil and gas leases, rights-of-way, unit designations, and other land agreements within the P2 system.
  • Agreement Updates: Maintain and update agreements in response to incoming amendments, releases, ratifications, and other changes.
  • Production Tracking: Update agreements to reflect tract out and first production data.
  • Calendar Monitoring: Monitor and update agreements in line with monthly Pay, Obligation, and Expiration calendars.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyze payment and obligation provisions to accurately calculate and set up payments related to minimum royalty, options to extend, delay rentals, water use, shut-in, and surface damage.
  • Ownership Maintenance: Collaborate with division order analysts and landmen to maintain agreements for current mineral and working interest ownership.
  • Data Management: Create new business associate (BA) owners in P2 for land check requests and new agreement setups. Identify and resolve data discrepancies in P2 Land and digital files.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Liaise with GIS, Accounting, Land, and IT teams for daily tasks and special projects.
  • Owner Relations: Address and resolve owner relations inquiries specifically related to Lease Records.
  • Reporting: Generate various land reports, including ownership, acreage, provisions, and cross-referenced wells.

Requirements:
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Business, with a focus on Accounting, Finance, Economics, Energy Management, or equivalent land experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of Lease Records experience, with direct Land Administration experience in and knowledge of Texas.
  • Certifications: CPLTA certification is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in P2 Land is highly desired.
  • Familiarity with ThoughtTrace and LandVantage systems is preferred.
  • Experience with electronic files and digital data management.
  • Ability to generate acreage reports from P2 Land or other integrated Land software systems.
  • Communication and Analytical Skills:
  • Strong research, mathematical, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to draft professional business correspondence.
  • Advanced analytical skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Project Management:
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a timely manner to meet contractual and statutory deadlines.
  • Capability to address and resolve owner communications and issues effectively.
  • Technology Proficiency:
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Outlook, SharePoint, Word, and Excel.
  • Competency in data entry within integrated Land software systems.
  • Industry Knowledge:
  • Extensive understanding of land, lease, royalty, joint interest partner concepts, and laws and regulations related to oil and gas extraction.
  • Familiarity with contract administration, monthly land calendars, and title chaining.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  • Land Expertise: In-depth knowledge of lease, royalty, and joint interest partner concepts, as well as the legal and regulatory framework governing oil and gas extraction.
  • Operational Knowledge: Strong understanding of oil and gas operations and the associated contracts.
  • Analytical Ability: Advanced analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills for maintaining relationships across the organization and with external partners.
  • Time Management: Exceptional time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in line with business needs.
  • Technology Adoption: A proactive approach to embracing new technology and its applications to improve Land Administration processes.
